Myth: Cork makes the barrel more bouncy. Not a myth: Corked bats are easier to hit with than an uncorked version of the same bat. (Decreases weight while maintaining surface hardness)
Considering myth busters also came to the conclusion that running your AC had no effect on performance while driving…I wouldn’t put much stock in anything they say.
Ok just saying 1. Mythbusters did get their test correct due to the fact they were testing the same speeds every swing as the Control. 2. When the Mythbusters got together to talk about the findings, they pointed out yes, the bat can be swung harder and faster because of Decreased weight. But Why do a Corked bat for that, and instead just choose a lower weight Bat. Which is legal in Baseball. "Major League Baseball (MLB) does not have a specific weight requirement for bats, allowing players to choose a weight that suits their preferences. However, most bats used in MLB games weigh between 31 to 34 ounces."
Bro biomechanics are so complicated but I would guess the corked bat comes down to a combination of a couple things: 1. Lighter weight improves control over the bat, meaning cleaner hits happen more often 2. Speed of the swing goes up, meaning the batter adds more energy to the hit than would be provided by a heavier bat swung more slowly 3. Maybe a hollow bat gets some kind of benefit over a solid one? I’d be curious how a bat with the same hole but no cork compares actually
Force = Mass x Acceleration, quark inserts would decrease the weight of the bat but may certainly allow you to swing the bat much faster which could not only compensate for the loss of mass but also over compensate and lead to the results shown. By changing the interior core of the bat you're also changing the bats density and structure thus also changing how energy moves through it which will also effect your hitting power.
I would say that the rebound effect of the bat being hollow may cause more of an effect than inserting cork plugs. Try it hollow first, then stuff the cork and repeat.
Way, way, way back in college, 1980s, we ust to pull the plastic ends off our bats and stuff tennis balls down the barrel. Added a lil weight but ball jumped off the bat. We had to use good glue to reglue and check it after each hit.
Corked bats should be standard with how much the game favours pitchers. Shouldn’t be cheating, should be league wide mandate. I might actually watch baseball again.
The Wood Bros. Golf Co. used to make a persimmon driver, THE CORKER , with a corked center. That driver with a UST senior-flex shaft is STILL TO THIS DAY THE LONGEST DRIVING DISTANCE I can get, even compared to the new drivers of today. For clarity's sake I play japanese X-flex in irons and driver, and tipped Stiff in fairway and hybrid woods, in my gamer. CORK WORKS!!

You need a control test to show us how far you hit with a regular bat
Imagine being a fan and someone clocks your dome at 105
Liability or risks of sport?????
Make them legal
That bat would be fun at the batting cages

Why does that cork shit keep popping up? Then get a lighter wood for the bat. Or are the rules stupid? Would not surprise me.
Who says its a myth?? I knew this playing little league, they did a mythbuster episode like 15 years ago

Make corking legal. We'll find out for sure 😆
Ball nearby broke in half

Neat video!
That's Awesome!
R.I.P to that ball 😂😂
That's just dangerous. No one is safe. Can you imagine getting hit with a ball moving that fast?
The mistake myth busters made was making sure they maintained the same bat speed,
but the whole point of corking it is to increase bat speed…
MLB needs to legalize this. It would literally save the game!
Too high
Additional elasticity response and moment of inertia (i.e. bat speed) in action.
Like hitting a golf ball with a "corked" driver…🤔😂
Hellooo Chiago Cubs/Sammy Sosa… Lol
Brother dis you just decimate that ball like that with crocs on?😂😂 gangsta
mythbusters failing to take something crucial into account?!?!?!?
=-O

Why are you not professional?
Do not put any kork inside.

Ask Bucky F'ing Dent
whys this cornball always have every piece of gear possible on for bp
All mythbusters had to do was have a professional bat with a corked and non corked. They didn’t do that?
The Sammy Sosa special
Mythbusters are from San Francisco, you know Barry was juicing and corking😂😂😂
Maybe because they need a skilled batter?
IT'S CALLED PLACEBO EFFECT BUD
Albert Belle
Proofs in the pudding
Cork a Baum bat
man it’s going going goneeeeeee
I don’t want to believe this because that means the mythbusers lied to me
Why not just order a drop 5 wood bat?
They exist and it’s not illegal
If you ain't cheating you ain't tryin my boy.
Buy a lathe please so you can make your own bats. Cutting a simple shape like a bat would be so easy and you could do it with no experience.
