  1. I have only played one round with my new P790's and they are such an upgrade over my 2021 P790's. Smash factor way up even on mis hits like James saw. Couldn't be happier with these clubs.

  2. Seem a lot more consistent in yardages than the early p790 model. I’d love to play these in somewhat traditional lofts

  3. I ended up getting fit into these bent 2 degrees weak to help slightly with spin and descent angle. I hit them every bit as far as my old irons, but the consistency/dispersion has been extremely tight. TaylorMade did a great job of addressing the odd shot that goes 20 yards longer when pured with these.

  4. I like the p790's but they are a little to GI for me. I went with the PXG Gen 6 0311P (1 degree weak) with DG 105's. Coming from my 23 year old Titleist 762's it's like cheating how amazing they are to hit.

  5. I'll be getting fitted for some p790 next week. And are you still thinking about doing an OG P790's v new P790's test.

  6. The 290 is always touted as so forgiving but honestly it’s a pretty small shape for high handicappers. P810 makes a lot of sense as a higher end option vs the annual “driver-named” release range

  7. Again just goes to show you that custom fitting is a con , you hit off the shelve clubs the same

  8. Best club I’ve ever hit, getting full fitting at the weekend after a quick test on Saturday, can not wait as they’re gonna make golf more enjoyable! The set up at SGGT& service looks superb as well.

  9. BEST IRONS ever released? I sense thumbnail hype. Good? Yes. Were they the best for me? No. Preferred the Srixon Zxi5 on every level. For me, the Srixon irons are very close to the TMs , but shaded a little. In terms of GI i would go Zxi4>P790>Zxi5>P770.

  10. oh what a surprise bend the 6 iron back to 30 degrees which it should be from the start and its goes as far and spins more. i wish the would just put lofts on clubs and not numbers
    a 27 degree 6 iron is not a 6 iron its a 5 iron.

  11. You should definitely be on commission for this place, it’s the best advert for proper elite fitting for golf clubs and the difference it can make. Also good on you for parking the Ego and demonstrating how even good players can benefit from so called mid handicap clubs.

  12. Very long post, my apologies in advance. Went through a fitting last month with an open mind as James would stress you should do. I tried the Apex range of irons, Srixon ZXi 4’s and 5’s, the Mizuno JPX range including the new forged, the entire Wilson range, Ping 440’s and 530’s, and TM 790’s. To put my experience in proper perspective, I’m a senior golfer who lost some swing speed after a rotator cuff and bicep surgery. My goal was to improve my carry distance, peak height, and get a softer feeling iron over my current 2021 P790’s with MMT shafts. Did a pretty thorough fitting over 3 visits ( I didn’t want/couldn’t hit that many balls in a single session) and the one down side was they did not have the range of shafts that SGGT has. I was expecting the new 790’s to come out on top but wanting the ZXi 5’s’s to come out on top. My top 3 ended up being the Mizuno forged, ZXi 4’s and Ping 530’s. Imagine my surprise when the ZXi 4’s w/KBS Max Graphite shafts met or exceeded my expectations in every category.

  13. Interesting . . . you strike the ball so well. I noticed for the first time watching this that you twitch your left foot in your swing. I'll have to try that! For me I seem to hit better if I lift my left heel slightly and step back down for the strike. Enjoyed the video!

  14. James you are very lucky to get that perfect fitting.. wow I wish I could.. but I do love the p790 or p770 beautiful irons.. I took the QI high launch just to have an easy game!

  15. Distance irons are fantastic, until you play a knock down shot, or a chip shot they come off the face so quick no control at all

  16. James…play a say par 3 9 hole course with these and a set of harder to play clubs like p7mcs and see the difference in the scores…many should swallow pride and play these type like luke donald did with the 245s
