Rory McIlroy’s caddie Harry Diamond has reportedly earned a surprising amount of money in 2025 due to some lucrative bonus payments. The pair have been close friends for a long time and initially started working together in 2017. They have enjoyed plenty of success in spite of McIlroy’s failure to win a major since his PGA Championship triumph in 2014.
Over the course of their partnership, the Northern Irishman has won the Players Championship twice, three Race To Dubai titles and a couple of Tour Championships. As a result, they have both lined their pockets with a significant amount of money. McIlroy’s stellar displays in 2025 have seen that number grow rapidly, with Diamond reaping the rewards.
He may have received as much as £671,477 since the turn of the year, according to Golf Monthly. That figure is said to be more than some big-name players, including the likes of Wyndham Clark, Jordan Spieth and Tom Kim, have earned in 2025 so far.
McIlroy won around £337,212 from his T4 finish at the Dubai Desert Classic, with Diamond reportedly taking a cut of £23,149. It is said that he received another £277,795 from McIlroy’s prize of £2,778,192 following his victory at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
The four-time major champion went on to finish T17 at the Genesis Invitational and T15 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. This saw him receive a combined £478,454 in prize money, with Diamond claiming a share of around £23,922.
Another big payday arrived when McIlroy triumphed at the Players Championship, seeing off JJ Spaun in a nail-biting playoff. He was rewarded with a £3,472,717 prize and would have reportedly given Diamond a share of around £347,267.
It has not all been plain sailing for McIlroy’s long-term caddie, though. Former PGA Tour golfer Nick O’Hern recently urged the 35-year-old to cut ties with Diamond and replace him with Billy Foster, who is available following his split from Matt Fitzpatrick.
Foster, meanwhile, said earlier this week: “The criticism [of Diamond] is not fair at all. It makes me laugh really at the people getting on his back.
“He has just won two signature events and the Players Championship, in four starts, and they’re still on his back. Give the lad a break. He’s a very good caddie. Harry, don’t read the s****, that’s simple as, because it is s****.
“Somebody’s opinion that is not educated, I think it’s wrong. I’d leave Harry alone. Rory’s playing better than anybody this year and they’re still giving the caddie flack. It’s out of order.”
