Golf influencer Paige Spiranac has built quite a reputation and brand for herself. She has four million followers on Instagram and another million on X, formerly Twitter.
Much of her social media content is rather aggressive, with sexual overtones. But she remains grounded in her hard work, dedication to the game of golf, and her ability to connect with fans.
But it was not always easy.
Spiranac recently joined the podcast Quiet Please! with Mel Reid and Kira Dixon. During the interview, the 32-year-old former professional golfer relived a story that once brought a lot of pain.

She was asked by Reid whether she remembered playing in Dubai.
“Yeah, that was like the worst moment of my life,” Spiranac shared. “I’ll never forget that.”

“I finished college out and I didn’t know what I wanted to do. I always wanted to play professionally but mentally I couldn’t handle it… I ended up going viral and this was back when people didn’t go viral all the time.”
“I went from 500 followers to 100,000 followers. So, I got this invite to play an LET (Ladies European Tour) event. I had just turned pro and had not played golf outside the country,” Spiranac continued.

“I show up and was doing hours of press… there were a couple of girls who were really supportive, but the majority, it was brutal. I would go on the range and girls would scatter.
“There were constant comments like ‘I did sexual favors to get this invite,’ within earshot I was listening to. It was tough,” she admitted.
Sponsor invites into tournaments around the world are not easy to come by, especially for a young woman who had just turned pro. They are particularly more difficult to get on the women’s side of golf.
To her credit, to this day she still understands where the other women were coming from.

“You work your ass off, week in and week out… and here comes me and I just walk on in. I got the new Callaway bag and I had Lulu Lemon that week. I can see why it ruffled some feathers.”
Paige Spiranac over the years has often spoken out about the mental health struggles she faced. Much of it seemed to stem from this tournament in Dubai.
“I had a lot of pressure on me. It was like the number one news story around the world, ‘Paige blows up, throws up all over herself.’ That was basically the start of all of this.”
Clearly, the Colorado native got the last laugh. She still works in golf as a commentator and influencer, and is enjoying life.
