Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s inaugural season of the Tomorrow Golf League (TGL) ended with a victory for Atlanta Drive Golf Club. The team of Patrick Cantlay, Justin Thomas, Billy Horschel and Lucas Glover swept New York Golf Club in the final series of three matches, winning two in a row.

The bottom line of the season was the impression left on fans. More than a few have recommended things they would like to see in the future, but most are looking forward to Season 2.

TGL posted a farewell video to the season on its social media profiles, which generated more than 95,000 interactions in less than eight hours. Fans took the opportunity to show their support for the high-tech league.

“Good first year. Lots to build on,” @macknight_nick posted.

“Loved it, cant wait for next season,” @Believeindogs1 said.

“Are we getting more teams next year? If LIV isn’t coming, we need a team representing DC!,” @tyranusio wrote.

The widespread fan interest in the new league has not gone unnoticed by its owners, who have not been slow to act on their expansion plans.

Even before the first season was set, Mike McCarley, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s partner in the TMRW Sports company that runs TGL, mentioned the projects they were working on to expand operations.

“We’re in the middle of an expansion process now,” McCarley told the Palm Beach Post during the first match of the final series. “When exactly we make that decision … there’s no timeline on it necessarily.”

“We’ve had potential expansion team owners at every single match this season coming to visit us. Some of them, multiple times. Some of them have a lot of questions, a lot of feedback.”

According to the Palm Beach Post report, McCarley also confirmed that the league is working on both the possibility of adding teams to the competition and the creation of new venues similar to the SoFi Center on the West Coast. The plans are short- and medium-term, he said.

TGL has not only generated fan interest. McCarley assured that many players are ready to join the league should the announced expansion take place.

“We had a long list before we started the season, and we have an even longer list now,” he said. “We’ve had a lot come and either check it out, or agents have come to check it out.”

Atlanta defeated New York in spectacular fashion in the second match of the final series to win the season title. The champions came from three shots down to win 4-3 with a historic 17-foot winning putt holed by Billy Horschel.

A day before, Atlanta had defeated New York in another close match, 6-5.
