The US Secret Service found themselves in an unusual situation when the arrival of Donald Trump’s granddaughter at a golf event sparked a mass gathering of young fans clamouring for her autograph. Kai Trump, 17, is a golfing prodigy set to attend the University of Miami in 2026, with hopes high within the Trump family that she can make a splash in the world of professional golf in the future. The daughter of Donald Trump Jnr and his ex-wife Vanessa Trump, Kai has already attracted her own fanbase amongst golf enthusiasts and Trump supporters, who followed her all over the Sage Valley course at the Junior Invitational event on Sunday.
As a result, Secret Service agents were forced to follow the trail of supporters all over the course to protect Kai. According to the Daily Mail, Secret Service agents positioned themselves amongst a ‘horde’ of Trump fans, who were wearing the President’s replica red ‘MAGA’ caps. They were forced to follow Kai all over the course as the teenager competed in the tournament, which is self-proclaimed as ‘the most prestigious event in junior golf’. One agent was even spotted in conversation with Janice Olivencia, her golf coach at the University of Miami.
A group of young boys, which the report claims were ‘no older than 11’, surrounded Kai and requested autographs and photos with the Florida star. The youngster showed her composure as she gracefully posed for pictures with her adoring followers. But the Secret Service were apparently displeased by the level of attention she had received.
The federal law agency were then handed a greater headache as the children chased Kai over every hole, with some ‘continuously darting across fairways’ and veering into prohibited zones. But as a Trump and promising golfer, it is something the teenager will have to get used to.
If she ever needs some pointers, Kai has arguably the best golfer in history on her side. Her mother, Vanessa, recently went public with her relationship with 15-time major winner Tiger Woods after speculation was rife that they had started dating.
She also attends the same private education institution, The Benjamin School, as Tiger’s children Sam and Charlie, who are also golfing extraordinaires. They joined her at the tournament, with all three representing their school at the event.
She was an All-County selection for Benjamin in the Autumn and finished her junior campaign ranked 151st amongst girls in Florida.
But at the tournament, she struggled badly. Kai shot 89 (17-over-par) in the final round and finished the tournament at 52-over, with rounds of 89-79-83-89 – sealing her fate as she slipped to plum-last of the 24 participants.
