Abbotsford’s Ledgeview Golf Club has been earned the 2024 Junior Golf Opportunity Award from Golf Canada.
The National Facility Awards for Junior Golf program officially announced winners of the six annual categories earlier this month.
According to the Golf Canada criteria, the Junior Golf Opportunity Award is given to a facility that provides exceptional access and membership opportunities for junior golfers. Special consideration is given to facilities with strong non-family sponsored junior programs and facilities with fundraising programs to help athletes compete at provincial, national, and international competitions.
Ledgeview was nominated for the award and following that nomination general manager Brad Clapp and director of instruction Brady Stead participated in two interviews with Golf Canada to further explain how they put a big emphasis on junior golf at the club.
Ledgeview receives a $1000 donation from Humi toward junior program initiatives, preferred pricing with Humi for their services, a recognition plaque for display in the clubhouse and recognition at Golf Canada Night at the Canadian Open later this year.
There are 127 junior members at Ledgeview, which is the largest demographic of any kind at the club.

“We are ecstatic to be recognized as the Golf Canada National Facility Junior Golf Opportunity award recipient,” Clapp stated in a press release. “I am personally the product of a great junior program/initiative growing up which has helped lead me to where I am today, so it is an honour to be able to offer the same opportunities to various junior golfers.”
Clapp thanked his members and the board of directors who allow such a focus on junior golf. He noted that they offer beginner camps, accessible/affordable junior tee times, volunteer initiatives and development programs. The Robert Bateman Secondary School golf academy also uses the Ledgeview facilities for training.
Ledgeview’s tag line is “where legends are born” and top talents such as PGA Tour stars Nick Taylor and Adam Hadwin have helped develop their golf games at the course.
Golf Canada stated that Ledgeview provides junior golfers with free evening access when playing with an adult and offers a clear progression pathway through affordable programs and memberships. The club supports juniors through fundraising efforts like the Ledgeview Legacy Fund and bursaries, with local businesses sponsoring tournament fees and apparel. Programs are designed to be accessible, with a focus on encouraging female participation and community involvement. Additionally, the club offers a caddy program and works with the City of Abbotsford to expand opportunities for underprivileged youth.
Other awards handed out for the 2024 season included:
Competitive Junior Program of the Year: Marine Drive Golf Club
Grassroots Junior Program of the Year: NINE Golf Academy
Tournament Host of the Year: Innisfail Golf Club
Youth on Course Program Location of the Year: Lakeridge Links Golf Club
First Tee Canada Program Location of the Year: Roseland Golf & Curling Club
The National Facility Awards for Junior Golf program has been developed to recognize the critical role that golf facilities across Canada play in the development of young Canadian golfers. The series of awards have been created to help recognize the outstanding contributions the golf facilities are making to junior golf on an annual basis.
“We are honoured to celebrate six outstanding facilities that have gone above and beyond to create accessible, welcoming, and safe environments for young Canadians to play golf.”
