A virtual golf company with sister locations in Penticton and Kamloops is preparing to expand to Kelowna.

The city has accepted a liquor licence application for a new liquor primary licence for 730 Vaughn Avenue, which is behind the breweries along Clement Avenue.

Kelowna Virtual Golf is owned and operated by Cole Marchant, Andrew Baron, and Ryland Gallagher, the application says.

The trio of owners’ goal is to introduce a “premier” indoor golf facility offering four simulators for year-round golfing, multi-sport games and lessons.

The application says the building would have a maximum capacity of 50 people, there would be a seasonal patio area and there would be a place to buy alcohol, snacks, sandwiches and non-alcoholic beverages.

“As this is a family themed facility, we are requesting to have an endorsement which will allow minors to attend the premises when golf simulators are in use,” the application says.

According to the application the proposed building complies with the city and Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch regulations, zoning and occupancy requirements.

Given that this new facility is still in the very early stages of planning an opening date has not been provided.

However, city planners have circulated this proposal and a report for council consideration can be expected in the near future.

Once Kelowna City Council gives initial reading to the application, public notification will be launched.

Ultimately, the LCRB will have the final say on the liquor licence application.
