The FAKEstream media is owed ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
Good to see them finally trying to humble Rory
Who cares. They all have the personality of a fart.
I’m okay with them not talking . I don’t care what they have to say . I watch them make golf shots
Not a morikawa guy. But he DID speak to the media today for 20min and gave mad detail about his loss. He doesn't owe me nor nbc anything, hes a grown man. Now they shame him for it. F nbc, go interview some good good loser u have on the payroll instead
These talking heads are something else especially Chamblee. Give your top pros a break, cut him some slack and show some grace. Didn't Rory drove off after losing the US Open. With ratings/tournament attendance both down dramatically, be thankful guys stayed. Tiger can't save the PGA at his age, nor can he play at a decent level; what now, the tour is basically 2 top players away from collapse. Get real, LIV's $100MM buys loyalty REAL fast.
Collin played well. Henley was pretty much choking all day long, as were most others. If Henley's ball doesn't hit the pin on 16, Morikawa likely has a relatively easy win, as that ball might have gone off the green. Could have been worse, it could have happened in a major. The more you see of the PGA tour players, the more you become unimpressed. How about how Rory always tries to break up with his women during majors? What he did last year to his wife Erin, as he tried to recapture the vibe from when he dumped Carolyn Wozniaki, was next level evil. Most of these players are total frauds.
He didn't feel like talking so let it go. Not really anything I care about. Just felt bad for him. Leave him alone!
Media are bloodsuckers. "Golf media" are worthless.
Brandel is 100000000% right. Absolutely spot on analysis and explanation of "why" Morikawa (and others) are wrong in this scenario.
Good points on all sides. What happens if the guy losing a major loses his cool during the presser? Will the media obliterate him for it? Will they praise the player's fire?
If you want to interview them after a loss then let them say what they want. Effin and Jeffin will be thrown all around
They dont need to talk to us
As a fan, I definitely don’t feel entitled to a post-loss interview. Brandel is comparing it to the old days but the guys in the old days didn’t have media documenting every aspect of their lives. Give the players some space.
I agree with all points on the panel but if it isn't a Major and a dramatic Van de Velde type loss I really do not care if they speak or not. Today's players do not have the same class as Trevino or Nicklaus – there's an aire of entitlement around some of them like Cantlay and others. We know these guys work hard and it's tough, but we all work hard and at the end of the day It's Golf guys, so you should be thanking the heavens you have the talent ability and opportunity to play a great game for phenomenal money on the Worlds Stage and we know you compete and wanna win but be gracious and have a little humility. Interesting it is Bay Hill because Arnie would have spoken to the Media afterwards with more at stake in his loss. There's the difference.
a bit blown up in my opinion, but you only have to look back a couple weeks ago at the signature event (Genesis/Torrey Pines) and see how Maverick McNealy handled his post round interview for a good example. and he could have just walked off the property, jumped into his plane and flown off just as easily.
Wish Collin did not drop the not owing anyone anything line and just said that he was sorry for being too upset to talk.
Imo the not talking speaks volumes.
Maybe if reporters did not ask so often the kind of questions competitive golfers do not need to hear or answer, perhaps he would have stuck around to answer a few.
Of course the media is gonna have their very biased opinions. It’s their job. They’ve done themself no favors by preferring smear and negative stories for attention and taking comments out of context for clicks over trying to uplift the players and sport. A players job is incredibly hard and stressful. Their job is to win tournaments and make cuts. If they want to talk talk. If they don’t then don’t.
I’m on team Colin here. Hearing Brandel say “I want, I want, I want” is really off-putting. They don’t owe us a thing, especially when they feel devastated that they just let us(their fans) down by failing. It must feel like the world is on their shoulders…
These guys are so out of touch and it shows. 😂 Sorry gents, the game isnt the same as it was in 1969 and has simply passed you by.
I can understand Colins decision. Interview Colin at the next tournament, after he's had a chance to gather himself.
These guys are absolutely in the WRONG for calling out Colin Morikawa, and it's absolutely TRUE that Colin Morikawa owes them or the press absolutely nothing.
100000000000000000% agree with you!!
Would you rather hear from a guy who's upset and answers all the questions by guving 1 word answers? Or would you rather hear from a player who's had a week to process the loss and get a better recap from the view of that player?
That crew and those who agreed with their view in Colin in absolutely in the WRONG.
These players owe you NOTHING!!
1. These takes are laced in selfishness and corporate protectionism
2. If new norms are being created then that’s that. You don’t get to create the rules from your retired life.
3. These are golfers. They went out and earned their keep by playing. BY PLAYING. They are not responsible for anything else but playing. If because they don’t talk to the media the money falls apart then so be it.
the press is a fact of life and you must learn how to manipulate them instead of vice versa. He needed to show up and say: Russell Henley played like a champ and deserved to win and I played like a chump and deserved to lose. Thank you and goodbye.
Theres no doubt players have gotten spoiled but the media has also gotten obnoxious and lazy.
I don't really care …it is up to the player.
This is so off the mark. The fans KNOW what its like. The guy lost a meaningful tournament and is disappointed …what else do you want him to say or expect out of his MOUTH. Also, did Rory speak to the media after losing to Bryson at the U.S. open? Get over it…also 99.9% of the guys just give DUMB Vanilla answers. I'm glad Morikawa spoke up and just said no.
This is on purpose. PGA has no heals anymore aka pro wrestling. Bryson, Reed and Brooks all gone. Need a bad guy vs good guy story line. No story if everyone is the hero. Bring back Patrick.
Shocking that the people who benefit most and have nothing to lose are the ones who want the players to share more
Screw NBC and Brandel.
