Have some free time? These Palm Springs area nonprofits need volunteers

Here’s our latest roundup of Coachella Valley nonprofits that are seeking volunteers (as of July 2024).

Coachella Valley Rescue Mission will hold its 19th annual charity golf tournament on April 7 at Palm Valley Country Club in Palm Desert. The competition will raise funds to support the nonprofit’s efforts to provide shelter, food and life-transforming programs for people experiencing homelessness.

Registration for the tournament, which will follow a scramble format, opens at 7 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. A complimentary breakfast will be served during registration, and a lunch reception and prize ceremony will take place after the tournament.

The day will also feature a silent auction — items include a golf cart — and a 50/50 raffle.

“This event is more than just a day of golf — it’s an opportunity for our community to come together in support of our mission,” said Darla Burkett, CVRM’s executive director. “Every swing and every putt help us continue providing hope and healing to those in need.”

Golfers are encouraged to secure their spots early. To register or learn more about sponsorship opportunities, visit cvrm.org/golf.
