Also, your summary of Irish history was a victory for mythology over history, unfortunately, something all too common among my countrymen. As for you understanding of Scottish history -I despair!!

Even us [The English] "menaces on the world stage" hate trump. Most of us think that extending a state visit to him was a very bad idea. Can't wait for him to come as I would imagine there will be quite a lot of hostility to him. As a side comment, Americans should understand that people outside of the USA do understand that not everyone voted for Trump.
