  1. I've heard every argument in the book about fairway divots and agree that there should be relief but only if your playing partner agrees that it is indeed a fresh divot. If it were a rule, it would absolutely be abused everywhere with players taking relief from natural ground undulations, just because they want a better lie. If it comes down to your playing partner agreeing or disagreeing, they have to remember that their decision may come back to haunt them if they then find themselves in a worse divot later in the round. What frustrates me most however, is that divots get repaired by greenkeepers, so the very next day, a player could be playing from exactly the same spot but without suffering from the bad lie. How can that be fair?

  2. I would like to see a 6-inch "preferred lie" rule for any ball that lands on the fairway.
However, "on the fairway" is not always clear.

  3. The only way to fix this is to play preferred lies all the time. I agree with that but good luck with getting it.

  4. Yes it is unbearable to play into a divot but fr, for me, I would play a punch shot but having a low loft club. Chip and run or punch with work within 55m as what 70-80yrd. So yea, I think somewhere there. But Imm not sure about other players. I hit far, i hit most 240-290m

  5. Please!! What a pathetic collection of p*****s, including the announcers. For a pro, this is not a problem. Especially at that distance. "…almost unplayable"? Seriously? If it was 220 away, different story.

  6. Even Jack Nicklaus though that this was a ridiculous rule. If you hit your drive (or a layup on a par five) in the fairway, you should have a decent lie.
