I've mentioned this before but it's incredible how smoothly you guys work together. These combination sessions are all I need to help me get my game back. You seem to be having such a good time that Rob is liable to put off his trip back to Singapore. Be well gents-Russ
Thanks Eric and Rob.
Great introduction into lower back and down swing mechanics.
I'm struggling a bit though as to know where to start these drills that lead up to Eric saying "keep it simple"!
Is it the correct use of wrist hinge or is it the correct position at P2?
I'm on lay-off at the moment having just had cataract surgery so I'll wait a couple of weeks before I hit full shots.
However I can do some of the more gentle aspects as I have already discovered that I'll have to reset my swing as with no glasses any more the visual stage of address etc is all rather strange – and I never seen such white golf balls for decades!

Really like the idea that your grip and wrists are dependent on each other to get to the proper P2 for your swing.
Great series of videos, very practical. In this one Eric I notice when you put yourself in P2 there was no rotation, if you rotate where would that take the butt of the club?
This is an excellent starting point. My struggle with wrist hinge is at contact with the ball. It feels so stiff in my wrists when I come into contact with the ball when I focus on keeping my wrist bowed slightly. A note, I tend to have wrist extension that I'm trying to work on.
Superbly executed video. Very easy to follow and some incredible little gems thrown in their to demonstrate your points. Top marks from me
Hey guys! If you would like me to personally analyze your swing…identify what your main problems are, confirm what you need to work on, and build you a custom practice plan…come work with me at https://www.cogornogolf.com

Eric, your ability to work with other well-known instructors is really a tribute to you. It's obvious that you love the game, and that you are extremely passionate about helping others play better. Kudos to you. I've learned so much watching your videos, and it's very much appreciated.
Well done, I've learned more from these two gentleman in the last two years than I've learned in the last 35…youtube is incredible, the amount of information is mind blowing. The old days of waiting for your monthly golf Mags for a tidbit of info is long gone. I watch and subscribe to a number of teachers, get a piece here and there but the consistency of great instruction is always the best with you two fellas !
Does this change with a driver or fairway wood?
This series of content has been amazing!! I have enjoyed watching you and Rob working together to provide some great drills to help mesh the reals and the feels!
This is great, very close to what I was asking about in a previous video. I do, however, have a question. I know a lot of your drills are "feels" and over exaggerations with the real swing being a happy medium (hopefully!). From this drill, starting at P2 and Rob saying to have the butt of the handle essentially right over the ball, I am unsure of how to get into that position naturally (from P1 that is) unless I strictly manipulate my wrists, but then a video is shown of the guy in blue and at his P2 his handle is right thigh or more, and even you were naturally wanting to start that way. Is this STRICTLY a drill that doesn't directly correlate to where I should be at P2 and P6? Thats what a big part of my original question was, when and how to set your wrists for proper P2 placement in accordance with body turn. Shouldn't we, in a real swing, have already started to rotate, right hip back, left leg extending, etc? Thanks!
2 other side questions in regards to the online coaching/videos.
If I am consistently tweaking my swing at a range session to try and see what I am doing wrong, if I send in videos, what should I be sending? If I am constantly tweaking grips or hand placements, ball placement, trying to turn through, etc etc, do I send multiple variations? and I guess secondly to that, when shooting down the target line, is it better to have my body line centered and the path askew from parallax or shoot down the target line and my body is slightly askew?
What program do you use to so easily throw up lines and circles to help with references?
THanks!!
Question:
Is it ok if I start my swing by
– pushing butt of grip down with left hand
– slightly lifting club with index finger of the right hand
…this puts my club parallel to the ground with hands hip high, then I complete my backswing. I’ve had a few people (buddies & teacher at Oakland University’s Rick Smith golf school/lesson) tell me I am too wristy.
I’m looking for about 5mph more swing speed across my bag.
My 7 iron swing speed is a lowly 79-81mph and my driver is a pedestrian 94-95mph at 57 years old.
Thank you for sharing!
I just want to share my experience.
I used to practice with an early wrist set like this but i ended up being too conscious about it and end up with different problems.
What i do now is to feel the wrist set just about when I'm transitioning to the downswing and I'm hitting it better this way. It kinda makes me feel the tempo better.
Am i doing it wrong?
Best video I've seen so far! Helped my game so much!
🔥🔥🔥
Eric, can you please confirm if the lead arm (left arm) elbow pit is facing the club head and not pointing face out to the camera in the backswing?
Exactly the right video at the right time for me this one! Been really struggling for a couple of weeks, couldn't find the feeling at all but this nailed it for me.
So you’re promoting the takeaway as all hands and no body turn?
Outstanding video, really does simplify the golf swing especially the initial takeaway.
Excellent video. This clarifies something i have been trying to understand 🎉🎉🎉
Eric, you are putting out some very good material
This is fine. But … what about the very short chip? I have more success when I don't move the body as much as I move the wrists.
Excellent!
Are you saying hinge wrists as soon as you move not further into the rotation??? And driver?
You guys are a great team. Very effective.
This has really confused me as a 15hcp. Setup is extension. A one piece takeaway does not include an early wrist cock. Instead, wrist extension at setup changes to flattened by nature of the downswing momentum. What happens at the top of the backswing seems secondary. Maintaining early wrist hinge feels way too mechanical and less fluid. After speaking with several scratch players, they also question early wrist hinge, versus hinging on the downswing.
Eric, love your instruction. S&T flying wedge is pretty much what i see here. Very good references to that old dvd.
Pure…GOLD!! Thank you!
