Scott Fawcett from DECADE Golf shares a presentation that goes over the basics of his scoring system.

Who am I?

My name is Jon Sherman 👋. I’m a best-selling author, PGA Tour coach, and a golfer just like you. I aim to help golfers of all levels lower their scores and enjoy the game more, but without talking about the golf swing. I focus on four topics – expectation management, strategy, practice, and the mental game. I’ll share some of my best advice on this channel in an easy-to-understand, actionable format.

  1. If I could only express how hard I’ve been trying to figure out these aspects of golf. I play competitively, and it seems I always get beat by guys that can’t strike the ball as well as I can. I am going to completely reassess how I’m playing this game. Thank you!

  2. Golf is an incredibly hard game when you start putting pressure on yourself to score better while comparing yourself to other people. Recently I’ve been trying to just play my own game and swing my own swing. Once I started to have one focus at a time and that was hitting the shot that I’m currently on. I’m not worried about the next shot coming up or the ball I just topped off the tee, I’ll slow my swing down just to make solid contact and get back into a groove. Playing this way has made golf much more enjoyable. I started 1.5 years ago and I’m consistently shooting in the mid 80’s and I will be breaking 80 very soon.

  3. I've seen and read so much about Decade and Scott Fawcett and still I click on any videos he's in 😂

  4. Hmm.. i wonder what Faxon thinks about that. I bet he has a hard time believing he left 1out of6 short from that distance, cuz he always talks about not worrying about running the ball by and three putting

  5. Love the show, love the content.

But regardless of which video he's in, Scott comes across a bit full of himself and quite annoying. Enough already with the Bryson and Zalatoris stories!

  6. Hey Jon (or Scott), as an amateur mid handicap, assuming if you hit another 25 shots you would probably wouldn’t have the same shot pattern? I’m playing off 8 handicap so how do we cope with that when trying to manage shot dispersions?

  7. Jon, you're an awesome Twitter follow. Finding your yt page has been fantastic, thank you for what you do for us!

  8. Great content as always Jon! I'd personally recommend shotscope to anyone who wants this kind of shot plotting. Trackman + outdoor range + dozens of premium new balls is a steep investment for us amateurs.

  9. Some of the best content from Scott was when he took frankie out on the course
And give him a live decade lesson

Seeing Frankie logic with stuff all of us regular golfer look at and see
And then Scott bringing Frankie back Down to earth

It really really put what he talks about in This type of format into context

Same with you to be fair jon

The content where its a live on the course going over the philosophy you talk about with a golfer is just pure gems

  10. I love that Scott is so straight to the point and confident in what he teaches. He backs it up with data and experience and quite frankly, there's too many people producing content that's wishy washy and scared of upsetting someone.
I'd really like to know how it all fits in with handicap golfers. Is there an inflection point where using your free shots and just playing super safe is better than trying to get as close as possible.
For example, 2 6 irons is longer than I'll ever drive it in my life. That free shot will leave me with less than 100 yards on most par 4s. Sometimes I might only be 20/30 yards short.
If I get a shot on every hole, I'm effectively playing a short par 3 on every hole.
Interested to hear both your thoughts on this.

  11. Scott Fawcett is so brilliantly entertaining, a faucet at full flow, honest, mature enthusiasn, amusing asides, and of course, DECADE. I would love to ply him with beef and scotch and let him pontificate, as I lean back and laugh.

  12. Thanks Jon and Scott for wealth of information! Is there a way to correlate shots on mat to on course or is there a way to add that correlation as we log the data? Honestly, as high handicapper interested in DECADE, only thing stopping me is able to find a way to hit premium balls on trackman range to find yardages. On other hand I have simulator at home and if I can add some transfer function from mat to turf as starting point? Thanks

  13. Stats for Pro’s when they play on pristine courses like Augusta ..?
How about comparing stats with pros playing on a regular local course

  14. Wow! Just wow. This made so much sense it absolutely blew me away. THANK YOU SO MUCH. His presentation is annoyingly (in a good way) factually correct – the data does not lie. And I see the points he is making because of how his “story” speaking style married with the data – That is compelling stuff!

  15. I struggle breaking 90, so I still suck😂but you have a lot of good advice, you have helped me on not being discouraged or disappointed on my 💩game

  16. Get hit by a car, or eaten by a pack of lions…I hear ya brother!!
Putting is hard. Golf towels are absorbent. Golf towels (actually, towels as a class) absorb liquids. Water is a liquid. Tears are water. Ipso facto, golf towels absorb tears.
Joking aside, this was such a great vid. Goes to show the toughest distance in golf is the span between your left ear and your right ear. #LFG2025
