Brandel and Rory lost
Why the fuck does Bryson and Rahm need to prove to play signature events. Rahm, Brooks, Bryson, cam smith were top 10 OWGR players when they left
Brandel what do you want? They already agreed to unify. You’re a corporate whore. You lost. PIF, PGA will join forces
Rahm, Brooks, Bryson, cam smith, Sergio Garcia, Niemann, poulter, Abe ancer, Graeme McDowell, Lee Westwood, Phil Mickelson, McKinnon, Tyrell hatton, Paul Casey, bubba Watson, Martin kaymer, are not a cover band
Looks pretty fair and exciting to me
I think the PGA Tour should move on from LIV. LIV players have made their decision, PGA Tour players have made theirs. The LIV product sucks as far as I’m concerned. I understand some people like LIV but not many comparatively speaking. The product sucks. Bryson is marketing himself in golf in a different direction. I have no problem that or Bryson going where his heart is guiding him. The PGA Tour does not need LIV. They may miss a few stars defecting in the meantime but the best players will natural gravitate towards the best product with the best ability to market oneself. Right now that is clearly the PGA Tour.
Brandel Chamblee doesn’t help the situation just mouths off .
Keeps saying that it’s not a popular product!!! Then why are the in merge talks? Brandel is a dipshit
Pls look at the UCI points system with cycling races
Each race is rated from Tour de France to classics to the smaller race
I think Paul Mcginely's proposal is brilliant! I'm a golf junkie & I like all the tours, ie. Champions Tour, LPGA, PGA & DP Tours, heck, I'd even been known to watch the Korn Ferry Tour! Brandel Chamblee, is a total snob! I think Paul's idea would be very exciting to watch! In my opinion!
Zero fans on planet earth care about LIV golf teams. I mean, if the Ryder Cup went away tomorrow nobody from the United States would care for a second of their lives. Who cares? Enough already. PGA tour needs to play hardball. Tell LIV the negotiations are off, and tell current players that if they go to LIV they can never come back to the PGA tour. That will end it. Do they have the guts?
MAKE DEAL. YESTERDAY!
Like the idea from Mcginley, but Chamblee is right, can’t just leave and get right back to the top.
LIV Golf will be around long after Chamblee, it seems! Time for Unity, consistency, stability and innovation!
First, great conversation. I'm just a fan, but I've had my own businesses before and after all, golf is a business. Having said that, the LIV players burnt the PGA Tour. They left for the money, to play less golf and really stuck it to the PGAT. The fabled cry is for the PGAT to welcome them back, but what stops them from burning the PGAT again? Second, the 8 signature events are the cream of the crop. Next to the majors they are the place to be. By welcoming 10-15 guys back, 10-15 PGAT players would have to step down and the others hoping to qualify would drift even further back in the pack, thus creating more resentments.
The team thing is just not working and Tiger and Rory are pushing it hard with the man cave golf. That's all nice entertainment, but at the end of the day we want to see the best player win and that's what the PGA Tour has done. To watch someone win for the first time or some who hasn't won in ten years is truly inspirational. Sure, everyone likes to see the show ponies, but for me, personally, I hate the idea that they took that money. I know I know, the Saudi's are in every sport, but the way it happened with Norman and Phil really really sucked. I forgive them, but I'll never forget it. Thank you, but No.
Much respect to ya's
As Paul said: where to begin with all this?.
Paul is mostly right. The 100 k in Adelaide comment from rich was spot on as well.
But chamblee was right that Liv players should not go straight into signature events.
I agree the dp would benefit greatly by opening up to Liv players; The Liv boys would do the same for the pga tour. Which is why Those Liv players who had pga tour status should be allowed in regular pga tour events and have the opportunity to work into signature events like everyone else.
Maybe a few could get invites. But the signature events should be earned by everyone imo.
I should reiterate imo the pga tour signature events should all be full field. And I don’t believe Liv should grow past 54 players. Unless they incorporate a 64 player match play.
The other thing the pga tour players need to be given is the opportunity to join liv and not be blackballed themselves. That would make the stars happy.
For the journeymen there needs to be plenty of playing opportunities.
Of course pif invests into the pga tour.
I do not think Paul’s idea of randomly putting pga tour teams into the final of livs team finale makes any sense.
I love that Mr McKinley is speaking of unity and an agreement. Not quite sure why LIV would have to pay to allow pga tour golfers to play in their events and for liv players to play pga tour events. It would be the pga elevated events that would benefit. LIV will still be funded long after pga money dries up. Aramco and the Saudis will be swimming in money for as long as oil is used in the world economy.
Hell no. Remove restrictions on LIV players if they want to come back and requalify. That’s it. No pga tour/LIV combo. Saudi’s are evil. That money is blood money.
What an arrogant arse
Agree with Brandel ….
LIV is whats wrong with the world…
call in Donald Trump please
The Fox Liv Hong Kong recap has 200k views on youtube as does the Arnold Palmer recap. People are watching Liv around the world and golf is going to change, when people can accept that a pretty cool product will emerge
Paul speaks common sense LIV is primarily an International tour alot of its tournamemts dont compete directly with the PGA tour both can exist. Create 2 or 3 PGA tour teams on LIV and let PGA players occasionally compete out there and create cool rivalries, let the top performing LIV players play in some PGA tour events a little cross pollination will make for fun viewing and rivalries food for fans good for sponsors. I think ultimately LIV will largely be an international tour where the PGA doesnt play anyway. Brandell cmon man if yoy have no solutions get out of the way
I love the McGinley proposals..I’d even go a step further and say that the PGA can request “certain players to play in certain events” sort like a franchise tag or arbitration..why not spread the wealth..also I think this elevates those play-in leagues since LiV has relegation..you could allow some pga events to qualify for relegation status for LiV..the complexities and nuances of that alone would substantially increase the popularity of golf..
Usually, I'll put up with Chamblee's long winded monologues and then side with McGinley's mostly sensible remarks, but in this case, I side with Chamblee. When McGinley kept saying that reunification is a must, I kept saying, "why?" The PGA Tour has gone on without the defecting "stars", and it will produce new ones that fans will follow. Aberg, Knapp, are young ones coming, and Scheffler is creating quite a stir as the world's #1. The idea of allowing the defectors to "come back" to the Players Championship AND some signature events, is crazy….First of all, it is the "Players" Championship – the flagship event of the PGA Tour, and McGinley is suggesting that some of those who are loyal to the Tour would be bumped out in favor of outliers who defected. Same idea applies to the "signature" events (which I dislike). And then, to offer that the Tour have a couple "teams" to join in LIV's finale – that's almost laughable. Chamblee was correct in questioning "what?" does the LIV exhibition Tour have in its product that could contribute to the betterment of the Tour? This whole PGA/PIF thing is like an uninvited guest who shows up at your family reunion and then wants to sit at the head of the table. PIF, just doesn't want to be included, it wants control, and the longer the Tour toys with that, the more likely it will suffer consequences down the road.
There are a lot of good discussions until you get Brandel Chamblee inolved! He flip flops back and forth based off of how he thinks the PGAT is doing at the time. Right now he thinks they have momentum, TGL is enhancing things so who needs LIV it shouldn't exist! I have some questions though, that I don't believe anybody really discusses.
1. When talking about LIVs value I think the number was $500,000,000 and I hear golf channel and golf radio people saying how is it even worth that. Here is my question, how is the PGAT worth anything? It's a 501C non profit correct? So the PGAT is actually barred from making a profit! So what does PGATE PGA Tour Enterprises own? The PGAT is beginning to look like a tax shelter for the extremely rich! They are avoiding paying millions upon millions in taxes by claiming to be a 501C …………… the NFL and all other major league sports have lost this protection it's time the PGAT does as well. So my point is, if LIV isn't worth anything, what is the 501C PGAT worth??? It can't turn a profit back to investors! Most of it's donations to charity are actually generated by the groups that put on the events. For example, The Thunderbirds who put on the Waste Management Tournament, they donate a lot to charity! The PGAT itself donates very little of it's own money to charity, according to it's tax filings.
2. You may not want to admit it, one of your hosts does! The LIV model is a better television and sponsor model for golf, the players are contracted to be at each event! The entire event can be done in a 4.5 to 5 hour window daily. It's a much better model for sponsors and television. Let's be honest here, it's only us diehard golfers that leave their television on golf channel 24/7 that even watch thursday/friday golf rounds! By the way, do you see what most of the commercials are? Private jets, like we are rich! obviously golf products and events! Then I would say the next most popular commercials are erectile dysfunction ………………… eroxon and blue chew………………… well it's the target audience! 55+ is probably who is watching the most!
3. Profitability, LIV with teams has a better profit margin for players and for that model. TGL is basically a rip off of LIV, just done on simulators so that they could profit off of Tiger who can't walk the courses anymore (and with the new injury probably never will again) and the popularity of simulator golf …………… because of course the younger generation would rather sit at home or inside a building and hit golf balls than actually go outside in the elements and play. Takes too much time to play a real round of golf! I digress, you can't buy a Scheffler, Mcilroy, Xander ………. shirt! It would be just a Nike shirt, or a Callaway shirt. By having teams, you can sell team merchandise! If somebody is a huge Rahm fan they can buy Legion13 shirts! They can buy Bonecrushers shirts and gear. The teams can have their own youtube channels their own media channels generate their own sponsorships. TGL ………… team golf, less than 18 holes to fit into a specific television window. LIV lite!
4. Finally, I watch golf, I watch it all. I actually prefer the LPGA to be honest. I am old now the distance they hit clubs is much closer to what I can actually generate, some of the top players obviously would hit it farther than me, and in a match all of them would kick my butt. Point being, the PGAT has become a bomb and gouge league! they don't care if they hit it in the rough. It's bomb it 350 hit a wedge! It's boring, and it's not a game I can play. Also the PGAT becomes a rather boring telecast when all you see on the final day is the top 3 or 4 players hitting the ball. LIVs team aspect means that almost every player on the course can still have an impact on something on Sunday! So you tend to see a lot more players hitting shots that matter!
in the end you are all still fighting over money! The rest of it is just golf!
Oh my God! Brandell Chamblee has a problem with something regarding a LIV merger??? I'm shocked!!!!
They are defending a product that has shrunk big time as far as the public's interest and Brandell seems to still think this is all due to LIV…..people just aren't watching network television. We watch independent content creators because it's often times more fun. That's the elephant in the room. But this digging your heels in resisting anything regarding LIV – this is just comical at this point.
Well said McGinley. And well said Chamblee. WHERE IS THE MONEY COMING FROM? That is my Issue and I hope it remains THE ISSUE. But we all know that's going to get swept aside. Sad.
McGinley cares zero about the PGA Tour, he was never good enough to play it.
I love team events. 2 PGA teams in the LIV final would be awesome.
A really good idea that’s what should be adopted
Chamber is right
He is right on I absolutely agree with him
Does anyone know what the background music in this video? They always play it on live from and can never find it anywhere
have you seen the price of eggs?
The way Paul McGinley just talked to Hal Sutton (Thursday night) on this program was the most pompous thing I’ve ever heard. Way to be an absolute hypocrite Paul…
