There are few golf players – male or female – quite like LPGA star Charley Hull. The 28-year-old from Kettering has become one of the most followed names on the women’s tour and is often going viral because of her antics.

As well as being renowned for her skills with a club, Hull is an avid runner and recently revealed that she posted her best-ever 5k time. Speaking to GolfDigest, she said: “I woke up this morning and I was actually sick, I threw up.

“I kind of got my head together and I actually did my personal best in my 5k run, I did it in 26 minutes. I knocked another minute off, well 30 seconds off actually. So it kind of put me in a good headspace for the rest of the day and just went out there and played golf.”

As if registering a 26-minute 5k while ill wasn’t impressive enough, in her round of golf the same day, she posted an astonishing score of 68. But according to the woman herself, golf is merely a means to an end, with Hull admitting she doesn’t imagine she’ll stick around in the sport forever.

Commenting back in October, the Englishwoman said: “Although I was born to play golf, and love it, I also can’t wait for the day when I retire and I can spend every day at home, settle down and have kids. “That’s my goal in life. That would mean more to me than winning a major.”

What’s more, the enigmatic golf ace has previously admitted she tends to keep training to a minimum, saying: “I don’t train for golf, I have zero interest in training for golf, I think golf training is a load of rubbish.

“I just train [running and gym work] because it’s good for my mental health and it’s good for me and I want to be an athlete not just a golfer. It’s like a hobby.” As a result, it should come as no surprise her season goal for 2025 wasn’t golf related at all.

She stated when asked about what she hopes to achieve this year: “It’s not really a golf course goal, I want to try and get my 5k run down to 20 minutes by the end of the year.” While it might be an unconventional approach, it appears to be working for Hull!
