‘The coin drill’ *myth* 😮
.
I think a lot of people associate the coin drill with placing the coin onto the putter head like I did here.. but instead of making it drop off in the backstroke, its thought you should try to keep it in the same place throughout the putt to help and find a smoother stroke 🤔
.
However… a good and potentially better way of using the coin drill is to try and achieve what I did in the video and make the coin drop off at the end of your backswing
.
That is because a lot of the best putters have the quickest part of their stroke in the transition just after finishing the backswing..
.
Which may sound crazy but I have mentioned a lot that the best way to maximise your putting is to almost stab at the ball which is proven to be the most consistent way to hit a putt
.
Check out some of my other reels to help you understand, most noticeably one where I putt two tees either side of the putter and another 2 just in front of the ball so the putter smashes into them 👍
.
One final thing to note about this coin drill is that to get the best from it, you want the coin to just drop off at the end of your backswing and not move forward any before coming off which is the hardest thing to do with it
