As a long time critic of the pga tour, I applaud this courageous decision. I love Jordan 🇯🇴. I find his scrambling style exiting to watch. But, maybe it lights a fire under him. Maybe he plays a couple more events
Superb Decision! This is what makes LIV garbage and PGA the real deal. Ya gotta earn it in the dirt! to play and qualify!!!
Where were all of these Guys for the Mexico Open? Or other tournaments they only play in these bigger tournaments with bigger payouts.
It's a Catch 22 Situation. Merit versus Market Value?! 🤔
Scotty and ludvig . Tiger ?
Sitting on the couch has consequences. These top players are flirting with disaster
So we get Rafa Campos but not Jordan. Cool PGA
Jordan did not earn it – that’s all that should matter. If they start exempting big names for signature tournaments, then they shouldn’t even have to worry about playing poorly. This is the problem with the PGA tour these days – there are not enough great players playing well to keep the eyeballs.
Complete fucking joke with all due respect
Everyone in the comments 😂. Every single one of them.
Couch potatoes themselves not knowing Jordan was injured.
Leaving him out is a disgrace to the fans, the event.
Sam Saunder's describes Campos as 'genuine and kind' which were 'important qualities to his grandfather.' So, what does this say about Spieth and Fowler?
The most unserious group of nobodies talking about this
Spieth dickriders coming out of the wood work this week
Guess what !!!! Mexico was 3 weeks ago, he could have played and easily got in. He’s not injured this year!! Ohhhh I’m too good for Mexico, cool well you don’t get gifted shit cause your “popular” and had a good 2015 season.
Also whoever that dweeb is that said it’s Rory Tiger and Spieth is so out of touch, Scottie is bigger than spieth right now.
Please NEVER bring the worthless NBA into this conversation.
Of course he should not play.. No special treatment, earn your spot.. 🤔
Jordan, like Ricky are overrated "superstars". Period. Yes, they have won on the PGA Tour over the years……but Spieth has not won in a very long time like Ricky. I'm glad they told him no. PLAY BETTER.
play better then
For all of yall saying for Jordan to play better is such a stupid argument he was injured pretty much all of last season and still made it to the fedex cup playoffs and I think he has played very good this year with two top tens so I think he should have gotten an invite
Don’t like it
To anybody in the comment board that is of the 'play better' camp when it comes to Spieth's non-expemption, please have a look to see who did get invited. If players can compete into the API over the weekend, then why do the sponsor exemptions have to come beforehand and cannot also come after this weekend to see who may be trending? Jordan Spieth not getting an exemption is a misfire by all accounts. Of the API exemptions, two did not make the cut (Hughes and Campos), and Rose has not played since the Farmers where he too missed the cut. If the committee, including Saunders, are looking to reward 'stewards of the game', how do you not look at Spieth given his fan fare and dedication on the policy board and to the PGA tour. Rosey certainly is a steward by all accounts. However, it cannot be said that not picking Spieth came down to better play. Compared to all 4 exemptions, Spieth is the only player to have two Top-10s in his last 3 starts. Out of 4 starts, Min Woo Lee's best finish is T-12, out of 6 starts Hughes is T-36, and Campos has missed 5 of his last 7 cuts with a best T-34 finish. Maybe the decision was a reaction to and attempt to quell the speculation that policy board members get invites. Who knows, but this was not based on meritocracy nor marketing.
earn it son, earn it. Arnie would tell you that
Wait no Jordan on the Jordan speith show.
He is the biggest star , trust that 1:09
LIV is the cause of the downfall of the woke PGA
Third biggest star????
Did you forget about the #1 ranked player???? Wtf
New to golf. Who should play? "Stars", name known players or recent top "playing", low scoring players??
Sponsor’s exemption shouldn’t be allowed in signature events
Speith 3rd best 🫤
I thought they had an injury exemption for established veterans especially after good showings recently.
Now you see the value of LIV.
Anybody remember the 40s Tour idea back in the day?
People want to see names and the way they swing today the Major winners will be 32 and under.
Third biggest star? That’s laughable honestly. Scottie is clearly the top dog and I would even argue that a big personality like Max Homa is becoming a true star, thus his appearance on the 2k25 cover. Jordan had his time with the crown but his downfall needs to be studied, he just flat out didn’t earn his spot. On to the next
The media has been all in on the “Golden Boy” Jordan Spieth since the beginning. Have no idea why (money?) but it is getting a bit old. Make room for the new stars, that’s what keeps the game going. And, if you are a golf fan, how the hell do you leave Scottie Scheffler out of the top three? Shows the ignorance of the panel.
And maybe if the “Golden Boy” Jordan Spieth didn’t snub Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Invitational for the first nine years of his career he would have been invited. Funny how these things come around to bite you. But the media will never bring that up. They are puppets to the money.
Jordan is the 3rd biggest star behind Tiger and Rory…??? I don’t think so right now… lots of fans yes, but not one of the most popular right now… he’s been fading the past few years. We want players who are playing well, so that the next stars can be born
Looks like I will have to exercise my viewer exemption on this one. PGA is a shell of its old self…
Cutting the field sizes is the dumb part. I want more people to have a chance,
I have seen so many comments over the past several days regarding special consideration/exemptions. No one seems to mind that Tiger Woods has a special "Lifetime Achievement Exemption." He can waltz into any signature event he chooses and where has he been playing great or even good golf? I am pretty sure that had more to do with the fact that Tiger still moves the needle which makes the sponsors and advertisers happy. They are who pay a lot of the bills and leaving Jordan out will mean the ratings and viewership takes a hit. I personally would like to see these exemptions go away totally, but I would also like to see a criteria change for getting into these signature events. I believe the top 50 in points from last season should only carry weight for the first signature event of the season. During the current season, if you have pointed your way into the top 70 by each signature event, then you should be able to tee it up. After Jordan was disqualified at the 2024 Genesis Invitational, there was widespread criticism regarding the rules for signing score cards resulting in change. I suspect we may see the criteria change regarding eligibility for signature events.
Scottie Schefler not among the most popular players?
I love watching Jordan play golf ! He’s the only reason I watch on weekends !! Can’t believe he’s not playing at Bay Hill ! But Tiger is ! What has he done the last 2 years and how does he get lifetime exemptions to play whenever he wants ! Not a fan of tiger !
Limiting the fields in any way is stupid
Signature events are also stupid. Cutting 25 tour cards next season is stupid. Put these guys on a shot clock. Penalize with strokes. Everyone will play faster.
He never played in the event until it was a signature event.
Didn't prioritize the event before.
