Bunkers are one of the biggest nightmares for amateur golfers. We’ve all been there—standing over the ball in the sand, gripping the club a little too tight, hoping to just get it out. But instead, we either chunk it, leaving it embarrassingly short, or blade it across the green into even more trouble. Escaping the sand with consistency is something most golfers struggle with, even after years of practice. But what if the right club could actually make bunker shots easy?

The Ping Bunkr, a wedge designed specifically to take the stress out of sand play. Ping claims this club is engineered to make getting out of bunkers a breeze, thanks to an ultra-forgiving, high-bounce sole that prevents digging and glides effortlessly through the sand. The wider sole and optimized weighting are meant to help golfers of all skill levels hit cleaner, softer shots that actually check up on the green, instead of skidding past the hole.
In this review, we put the Ping Bunkr to the ultimate test. How does it perform in deep, fluffy bunkers? What about tight, compact sand? Can it really help high-handicap golfers stop wasting strokes every time they find a trap? We break down the club’s loft options, bounce angles, and the key technology that makes it different from a standard sand wedge.

If you’ve ever stood over a bunker shot full of doubt, wondering if you’ll even get the ball out, this might be the club for you. Watch as we test the Ping Bunkr in real bunker scenarios and find out if it truly lives up to its promise. Can this club finally help golfers stop dreading the sand and start playing with confidence?

  1. The fact that amateurs miss it is golden and really shows you that’s not the equipment but the player.

I have the chipr and decided to ditch it and instead just get lessons to learn how to chip!

  2. Complete hack of a golfer here, but I got given a set of the Ping Eye 2's many years ago. Wonder if that's why bunker shots I've never really had an issue with, as the old design is so close to this new 'special' one….. Love the reviews you do.

  3. Although I’m a fan of the new content it’s great to see an original style video

  4. Only started playing golf 2 years ago and have come to the conclusion that golf is: 90% the player & 10% the equipment.
Lessons and practice are by far the best way to improve your game.
    🤘😎

  5. this is fantastic for amateurs as they dont really need to learn the techniques of advanced bunker play, theyll save a ton of shots by simply just getting out of the bunker onto the green on the first try nearly every time.

  6. Getting out of a decent bunker is easy. High handicappers likely struggle because the courses they play on have terrible quality bunkers. Concrete sand.

  7. Nice video Rick, good to see you back doing this type of content. I am a 20 hc and have used a 64 degree Dunlop club for a number of years, (it cost me £30 new) as I always struggled to get out of bunkers not anymore.

  8. I bought a 58° cleavland RTX 12 bounce wide low stance wide open flop shot works for me 8/10 times $175.00aud the ping bunkR $300.00. Think i will stick with the cleavland

  9. I have a budget, Lazrus 65 degree wedge that looks really similar. $50 on Amazon. My go to in a bunker. You should consider doing a comparison.

  10. Luv these videos Rick!
Callaway did release a club like this years ago. I have the Callaway SureOut 64*
Great club, exactly like the Ping. Shop around, you can find similar clubs like the Ping…

  11. 👍 Nice club, nice goin'! Sandy Andy from Moe Norman is the grandfather of this kind of equipment. He didn't like to mess with his square stance and although it creates less spin, he was all for rolling it to the hole, just like a little putt

  12. I bought a £3.50 second hand sandwedge from my local golf shop and it works for me a treat. It's the only club I can get the ball out the bunker

  13. Ping's answer to Cleveland Smart Sole full face. Like Rick said, i use chipping stroke to get out of bunker. This is my swiss knife club from 50 yds and under. I cant wait to try and compare.
