Congrats Shaun🎉
I think Hugo trade for a top four right hand d-man at the deadline and if it’s true that Jake Evans agents thinks he worth 5.yrs at 4 million per yrs he should submit to drug testing.
habs could get nothing out of dvo evans armia savard or trade them while value is an all time high
You could see Jake Evan’s was off last night. Maybe he’s told he’s gonna be traded
Add with draft picks keep the team together.
Congratulations 🎉
10K or bust!
Happy for the wins, but let's not kid ourselves. They are not playing great hockey defensively and a lot of mistakes were made (Buffalo hit 4 posts). These were bottom of the barrel teams. Imagine this team without Evans and Armia against better teams.
Having said that, I'm loving Hutson-Suzuki-Caufield play!
Why would anybody want this undersized offensively challenged team to make the PO's? Those people need to give their head a big vigorous shake tout suite
Hopefully management has more common sense?
Couldn’t the habs and the oilers pull a move?
Evans , Armia ,Savard , montembault to Edmonton for Kane , Jeff Skinner , 1st , Savoie and one of their goalies
This actually works cap wise and would actually be good for both teams , zero commitment for either team except for Kane , he has one year left , all other contracts involve in this trade ,
It’s a big and ridiculous trade but this I think would be great for what those two teams are looking for , the oilers finally get a good goalie , they get two of the best penalty killers in the league and they get Savard , proven defensive playoffs guy
Montreal get rid of all the guys that won’t re sign , they get another 1st rounder which means nothing to Edmonton , they get Savoie and help the oilers getting rid of two guys that they need to move , skinner wouldn’t be re signed but Kane has one year left , brings a physical presence and he’s a left hand shot which Montreal doesn’t have , Kane could have a good season in 2025-26 as he becomes ufa and the habs could flip him
This trad3 is good for both teams , what do oilers think about this? I think this move would win Edmonton a cup , it fills all their needs
You say Evans is as good as gone. I don't see it unless the offer for him is too good to pass up. The Dach injury was bad news for teams interested in Evans moreso than bad news for the Habs. He centres a top 3 in the league 4th line and is a top 3 league-wide penalty killer. It's not worth it to remove him from this lineup. Am perfectly comfortable with him playing out his contract to years' end, and if he signs elsewhere after, so be it, good on him. In my mind, it makes good sense for Evans to stay.
Great show Shaun! Keep up the good work
The trade for Dobson is Reinbacker!
Hughes should go after Quinton Byfield ..!! L.A. KINGS center ..6'5" LT. SHOT ..223 LBS. GIANT …For the Habs 2C …and put Demidov and Liane beside him .!! THATS A LIGIT MOVE …!!! SUZUKI …BYFIELD …BECK …HAGE …THATS A GOOD SOLID CENTER LINEUP ..!!
I’m not surprised… your a “True Professional” in the media world… fan or fanatics of the Canadiens, are very blessed that you are taking your own time to give this podcast out. I’m very happy, but not surprised. I’ve streamed TSN 690 from northern Alberta and listened lots to you and your colleagues. One word: professional….
Quinton Byfield is a number 2 over all pick in 2020 …He is 22 yrs. Old …Has established himself as a legit NHL CENTERMAN …!! BORN IN Newmarket …a tough CANADIAN KID …Represented CANADA …C.H.L. ALL-STAR …!! HE is the guy we need ..!! Trade players plus picks …pry him away from L.A. …!! PLEASE .!!
Shaun, I love your pod. Keep up the great work!! There is all this talk about a 2C for next year, I don't think that is our biggest hole. Its a D to play with Hudson and a reliable 2nd pairing defenseman to play with Carrier. You need to build from the back out to have any chance in this league today.
Hugues and his claims of not wanting to trade picks or prospects and that he wants to sell high and buy low but he doesn’t do those things cause it doesn’t work
Let’s go back to 2022, if I told you back then that we should trade 3x 1st rounders and Joshua Roy for an established star player , most of you would have call me nuts as the habs were in a “rebuilt” and Joshua Roy was the habs top offensive prospect and had a lot of value . So if you bought the garbage hugues told you about ceiling and buy low and selling high , than you would have thought it would have been stupid to pull sucha a trade
But since , Hugues traded a 1st for Dach , a 1st and a 2nd for newhook , used the 26th overall for Mesar and Roy lost all his value
So now , in 2025 , what does hugues has to show for 3 x 1st rounder and a 2nd rounder ?… all hugues has to show for is a 15 goal scorer in newhook , this is piss poor management any way you look at it , wasting all those assets on unwanted “maybes” and drafted a guy simply cause he was friend with Slafkovsky?🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂ Just embarrassing
Packaging multiple quality picks will get you an impact player , trading 1st rounder one at a time will get you garbage
So in résumé , hugues doesn’t practice what he preaches and the habs scouting team sucks
As for struble, this guy is a beast , he’s in amazing shape , never gets injured , hits harder than xhekaj and has tons of discipline and gets better every game , this guy will be the perfect shutdown defenseman
They have to win tomorrow at home. And then the West trip will tell us everything. I wonder if the fact that the team is so far from home when the trade deadline happens, if that will affect in anyway how management operates this week.
Anytime a rookie defenseman is close in points with other Calder runner ups , the Calder should go to the defenseman , Hutson plays long and hard minutes at a harder position , as of right now , Hutson should be the Calder winner , we’ll have to wait and see but if Hutson keeps this pace and doesn’t win the Calder than there’s obviously corruption in the votes or the people voting shouldn’t be voting as their credibility is just garbage
Do NOT sell. The return won’t nearly make up for the message it sends the group.
hage+demidov+reinbacher+fowler+24 million -evans
Wonder if Montreal make a trade with Edmonton the day before of the trade
Same time on game day
Sometimes those thing have happened before
Whats with the signing off then not turning off?? We re all watching you talk to the dog and walk around the house haha.
they need that#2 center now– no selling
Congrats on 5k, love the show. Keep up the great work ty
New subscriber here. Love the depth of the analysis, but from an educated fan perspective more than a journalist or a pundit. I'll try to tune in as much as I can.

Trade for Shane Wright by giving up four high draft picks.
Just stop…………….montreal will not be in the play-offs . Wow theyve won 4 in a row ! , big deal ,the fact that your making a big deal out of it ,is proof that they have sucked this year .
This is what it feels like when a rebuild is starting to work in the right direction. Please be patient. It is only going to get better and better and better. Be fucking patient.
Yes the Habs are pushing for a wildcard spot…yes, moving pretty key players like Evans&Savard would definitely upset the players who obviously want Evans&Savard to stay and you definitely weaken the wildcard push but then you potentially lose all UFAs for nothing. What do you do? IMO, firstly, I don't think this team can make the wildcard spot…the difference…Ottawa can play defense just need to score goals which they have the players to do so, Detroit has similar stats to Montreal but they have a better head coach (IMO), and I feel altho the Habs are presently playing well…I foresee a drop-off as the schedule gets to mid-March, AND I feel this team still plays horribly defensively (thank Monty&Dobes for winning games they should have lost)…so you can add any offensive help you want but if your team can't play defense, you will never go far. Soooo, my trade deadline outlook is IF Mtl can get what you are asking for your UFAs and get a return that sets you up for the off season moves, I say do it…but if you don't, keep them bc you tell the team you believe in their push for wildcard and you still have an opportunity to move them b4 July 1 or you might be able to re-sign them if you want. I realize many like MSL, but IMHO, I think he is a good offensive ASSISTANT coach but he is not a good head coach which he might become, but not at the expense of a team that needs to get to a new level of play to succeed. Again, if this team does not learn how to play team defense, even with Demidov, this team will still not move forward and it will be the start of a downward domino effect. I will continue to cheer this team on and keep an open mind as this off season will be HUGE if this team wants to get to a new level. Good show Shaun!
Hey Shaun, you may be right about Evans but with Dach out, If they trade Evans who is going to play centre?
Evans for a second?
Any good contender’s pick would be a late 2nd which is really a 3rd
Keep Evans as a rental.
If team makes playoffs let him price himself out of Montreal or earn what he’s asking for
Shaun I really loved the last 8 min of this episode. Quality behind the scenes content
