I love these types of videos and great job on this one. I have created a scoring system for quarterback's careers and done thousands of hours of research on the subject and written a book on Hall of Fame quarterbacks and recent stars with a chance. My analysis is based on how far above the average quarterback of their own era all the great quarterbacks were. The Four quarterbacks that you mention in the video will all make the Hall of Fame. However, only three deserve it. My analysis takes 16 different statistical categories into consideration including team success. but unlike many quarterback analysts I do not base solely on team success. With the point system that I have any quarterback who can be measured against all the best quarterbacks since 1947 and score at least 386.2 points has had a Hall of Fame quality career. A score of 386.2 is 100% better than the average quarterback from any era.
Stafford scores 398.2 at this point in his career. Longevity is one of the categories and his point total should go up but that is not always the case if the quality of his play drops off. Matthew has only one top 10 finish when added to the group of 32 greats. He is off the charts with his 4th quarter comebacks as the best the game has seem over the last 77 years. His final score is better than 9 of the greats that were in this part of the study. Eight of which are in the Hall of Fame.
Roethlisberger scored 427.4 which ranks him 21st in the 32 quarterback group of retired quarterbacks. Big Ben had three top 10 finishes at 8th in 4th quarter comebacks, 8th in the percentage of touchdowns that he had a hand in for his team and 9th in strength of schedule. He had only one bad finish in defensive adjustment which measures how much help he received from his defenses over the years.
Ryan is the best of the 4 quarterbacks mentioned. He scored 453.2. He also had three top 10 finishes at 8th in the defensive adjustment category, 10th in strength of schedule and 10th in the percentage of touchdowns that he had a hand in for his team. Matt had just one very low finish at 30th in yards per attempt. It is interesting that Matt and Ben have the same three standout categories and I will take this opportunity to say that it has nothing to do with the fact that they played in the same era because all quarterbacks are first measured against the average quarterback of their era so it is a measurement of how far they stand above average not their overall numbers.
I predict that Manning will make the Hall of Fame but ONLY because Hall of Fame voters like quarterbacks that play on championship teams. Eli's final score, even after getting credit for the championships is 234. Just 47.9 points above an average quarterback from any era in the last 77 years. Without the eight games in those two playoff runs he would be average. Eli is last in yards per attempt, next to last in quarterback rating, interceptions per game and offensive team success. He is 3rd to last in completion percentage and 4th to last in yards per game and the percentage of touchdowns category. His best finish in the 16 categories is 13th in 4th quarter comebacks. So no he should not be anywhere near the Hall of Fame without a ticket.
On a sidenote the best quarterback not in the Hall of Fame is Ken Anderson who scores a 498.5 which is the 14th best since 1947, 258% above average and 4.3 points better than Brett Farve. I enjoy sharing what I have learned and I like your work. If you would like I will send you a copy of my book which is done and should be in print before the end of the year.
Great video I agree with most of it, but Eli Manning is not a Hall of Famer at no point in his career was he ever even considered elite. He doesn’t belong. Just because he won 2 Super Bowls doesn’t put him in. I’m gonna say it he wasn’t even the reason they won the Super Bowls those years. It was the defense. They held Brady to a total of 31 points in two games.
Steve Smith dont know if you mentioned him in videos like this before. And i am posting halfway through this one.
