These Irons Are BIG TROUBLE For The Big Brands – Takomo vs Ben Hogan!

  1. Those takomos always look great but in the last 6 months their prices have gone up about 50% I’d assume to offset all the YouTubers they are paying. They are no longer that cool brand they’ve gone corporate and I’m disappointed

  2. No way I’m splashing £800 on clubs I’ve fitted myself into, I can’t even get trousers to fit me properly when I try them on!

Independent fitting centres need to get a kit for each brand

  3. The Ben Hogan for sure. James will you please review the new Ben Hogan driver and fairway woods. Thank you for all the work put in to make these educational, instructional and amazing videos. God Bless brother

  4. The Ben Hogan PTx Tour irons were the last irons developed by the old BHG ownership before they went out of business…..again. Golf Brands bought the name Ben Hogan and had zero influence on those irons. The new "catalog" irons listed on their website are bought clubs with Hogan's name on it. But, Ben Hogan was DTC a LONG time ago.

  5. Not seeming like you’re doing what Pete showed you, still looking really lunge-y at ball / contact.

  6. Hogan for me, best feeling clubs I've ever hit. Beautiful as well. Takomo's look like a slug of metal.

  7. The thing is , you can’t beat the fitting experience and getting put into the correct iron set up , even if it is a bit more money wise, case in point being your video at SGGT a few months ago , and that’s the issue you’ll always have buying direct from either takomo or hogan , you’re never going to know if they’re perfect for you

  8. £650 for a relatively new brand just doesn’t cut it for me.

Most of the big brands are cheaper if you go back a generation.

Eg. TM P7MCs are £530 in the uk online. Srixon zx7s £600.

  9. I still use Ben Hogan Apex irons I got in 91.
Nothing I've tried is as buttery out of the screws like them. Nor as versatile.
They're not forgiving at all. But so consistent.
Also, I still use my Ping B26 putter.
I have bought others. But always go back to the Hogan's

  10. Great video again, how are the second hand prices holding up on these clubs when it comes to the next trade / change??

  11. I am loving my Temu P790 irons for $281 US. I have a set of Hogan Apex Edge, feel great traditional lofts! The new Hogans are beauties! Thanks James

  12. I game Titleist 712 cb:s and looking for a new set. How is the 301 cb:s comparing to the Titleist cb:s…? Have an idea?

  13. I had actually planned to buy Ben Hogan's but they were out of business for a year or so and I got the Takomo's instead. Happy with my Takomo's but glad to see Ben Hogan is back.

  14. Love the bag, burgundy?? Are the clubs forgiving? Are they suitable for high handicap golfers like me? Who are these clubs suitable for?

  15. Love this content. I received my 101T's Monday, have played 4 rounds and getting used to them and loving them. Being left-handed, the new Hogan clubs aren't available for me. I do have an older set of the Hogan Edge irons from about 20 years ago and they are great. But, keep content like this coming. Thanks

  16. Looking at Ben Hogan, Takomo is still cheaper by a mile, and in some cases, I've seen previous year irons from big brands cheaper than BH. Takomo is winning by a landslide here

  17. The Ben Hogan clubs "look" very nice. What scares me is the flat bottom or sole. I would think they wouldn't be as nearly forgiving with the turf contact. So unless I could try them to disprove that…I'd stick with the Takomos. Which I know first hand are very forgiving.

  18. Somehow to my eye, the Ben Hogan's look too shiny and too much "bling". What I would expect from a low cost department store, not a respected name brand.

  19. Got fitted recently with the aim of using it to buy Takomos. But couldn’t get past how good the Mizuno 925s are. So ordered them. The DTC model is cheap but it’s all approximate – lofts, shafts etc.

Plus the DTCs are standing on the shoulders of the R&D from the major brands. T

Yes, there are savings to be made.
