I think you should do when a team is captured and they play their own conference, their own conference should be able to capture them back. Like say the AFC defeats the Lions, the Lions are now and AFC team so if the NFC plays the Lions down the road, they would be able to steal them back.

What if, instead of spinning the wheel for new players you do a player steal if they beat a team and keep them as a prisoner of war? I think that’s add to the wartime theme. Also, maybe you pick 3 teams from the AFC and NFC and give them booby traps. If a team loses to a booby trapped team they lose 5 overall from their top player or something like that.
