Literally had this exact same short game lesson on Monday. I was getting inside and stuck. Working in the same thing now
sick vid mate, your bad habits are the same as mine in shortgame, very overactive lower half causing strike and low point issues so these vids have been great to watch!
💰👌
I've been fighting this very thing a LONG f'n time too. hips are in a hurry to open up on backswing. it's not a bad thing for pitching but not great for long swing (for my current patter anyways).
Yup it’s definitely helped me. I’ve been on the VSP for the past month or so and I’m seeing better results and I’m starting to feel the confidence coming back too. The yips has been absolutely killing me for 2 or 3 years but now I actually can see the light (former +2 golfer).
Nice offer o receive look forward to seeing you take him up on it👍
That’s mad! Go see the guy!
Very cool, sounds like a really nice guy.
#1 (or is it #2) golf UK youtuber is off to Nashville to have a beer with J Mayo!!! Congrats, you so deserve this !
This is why short game is fun to learn. There are so many ways you can do it, It's not a one size fits all type of thing.
Be wary of Over coaching, you'll be for ever changing this and that. In my humble opinion you try to hit the ball too far. You've a name for being a BIG hitter, maybe try and be known as Accurate cause you're obviously talented. Best of luck this season 👍
That's interesting, I've seen Dan Grieve say a lot of times to his students to get the back hip opening up. He pairs that with a vertical plane as you're mentioning here. Pretty common in his lessons. Wonder if there's a reason for one over the other?
I see too many amateurs chip like it's a short full swing and it never works. Watch Wesley Bryan's technique, get your feet close together, stand closer to the ball and swing more vertically, that's a good place to start.
I find it weird that in your first video with Liam he said the problem with your pitching was you were too steep so tried to move your path to the right with the jumper/basket. Now it seems his players/him are adopting more of this philosophy
Mr Mayo is a friendly man. At least when I got a lesson from him when he visited the Netherlands some years ago. I’m an average hacker.. he didn’t mind. 😂
Dan Grieve is just up the road mate…
James I'm an Englishman living in Amarillo TX, I have no golf tips, but the beer sounds good. Have a great season.
Go see Dan Grieve! That would be great content and I think he could help unlock some stuff for you. I think Dan would say that lie is not a stock lie and would require a specific technique for consistency.
Heard you mentioned Texas I’m based in Houston been following since the crossfield and lockey days, happy to have a game at Golf Club of Houston if you’re around (where they had their Liv event)
Keep up the good work mate
Mayo sounds a good man . Best of luck James 💪🏻⛳
FLYT Golf makes an arm brace for chipping — it is literally amazing — I bought one a few years back and it changed my game immensely. I use it at least 2 times a week — highly recommended.
I don’t need a swing coach…swing is close to perfect…but I want it perfect.
Nashville is an amazing place!! Course is called Gaylord… the strip is unreal!
Golf game might be on the up but what’s going on with your Barnet?
Cool as vsp_ck!
Check out the podcast Joe Mayo did with No Laying Up.
It's excellent. He's a real character.
I'd love a pint with him. 👍
My 3 keys
Lock your right knee solid at address,
move head towards target in backswing
lift handle / pelvis softly at impact.
😎
Mate you'd love Nashvegas. A great city. If you go there I'm coming to meet you!
Man just hit it straight, if you hit it 50% you are still at your average. Accuracy over everything
