Maltby doesn’t get any love on YouTube so this is pleasant to see. Especially for a Maltby believer. Their irons and wedges are phenomenal and inexpensive compared to even the Takamos of the world.
It's a shame people don't realize the quality and value with component clubs. Most think they are just cheap knockoffs not realizing they are made in the same foundries in China as the name brand clubs. Great video, thanks. I may now even look at a new driver! 🙂
I got the 7 wood, and really liked it. It immediately became my favorite club. However, then for shits and giggles, I ordered a 9 wood from Hireko….$35, and a $15 SK Fiber Hypersonic shaft. Nothing really to lose. I put the whole club together for $55. It sort of pained me to say that even though I really liked the Maltby…and I do, the Hireko club edged it out for 3 reasons. #1….price. #2….I hit it almost the same distance, and #3….the head is shallower, so I hit it a bit more consistently off the deck. 11 wood next. These clubs are absurdly easy to hit with a very high ball flight, so it should hold greens. These clubs are a game changer for par fives.
For my age, 65, I have a fairly strong swing speed, and a bit surprisingly, the S flex Hypersonic seemed appropriately stable for me. I carried it roughly 200-205. The Maltby 7 wood, I carried 205-210….max, about 10 yards difference between the two…usually about 5 yards.
I am not bad mouthing the Maltby. It is an excellent club. Just saying that the Hireko XDS (I think) edged it out for me for less money. I would not sleep on that club from Hireko. I prefer the look of the Maltby, but the looks of the XDS are plenty good. I would like for AJ to review some of their clubs to see what he says.
Hi AJ thanks for the video and shining some light on Maltby. As a fitter, if you had a senior with an 80mph driver speed and were building a bag would you go Dr 3-9w? How would you transition to any hybrids or short irons? Maybe that’s a video with the increasing interest in 7 and 9 fairway woods?
This is a “me” problem, not a you problem – Maltby offers practically nothing for lefties. I watched the video to feed the algorithm, but I can’t use any of the info, because GolfWorks ignores about 15% of the market … 🤷🏼♂️

All their stuff is very good , just don’t have Tour players selling it
I've been using Golfworks clubs since the late 90's. Great value and quality.
Any chance of getting a review on the Maltby Stf2 3 wood?

Could you review the maltby sti2 gen 2 irons? I’m left handed so the other options from this brand are out for me. Thanks for the great videos
great timing. looking for a 3/5 wood right now
It also comes in 9 wood!
Getting a 7 wood from Maltby (Golfwrx) very soon, and will be buying from this company moving forward. These are a no-brainer. Why pay twice the price?
I have the same 3 wood. It's a killer!!!!!!!!

I have one on order from a week ago. Seeing this review has me a bit excited. Curious what your club speed numbers looked like on the 3 wood
Really curious on opinions on the new mpf shaft. I had the older model for a while and it was shockingly good.

My one question is what is the difference between hybrids and fairway woods?
Awesome review!! Love Maltby equipment!! And the catalog is a great read and tool.
I have their irons and they are sweet.
Verry cool thanks for giving an unbiased review, ive looked at them for a while but just couldn't give one a shot as haven't heard anything on them.
Wow Maltby is actually charging $10 for assembly now?! The apocalypse is upon us. 😂
Thanks. Succinct and informative. Is Malby shaft sleeve adjuster specific to Malby or is it compatible with any other brands?
No Driver? Do you recommend the standard weight they put in the heads?
As a lefty I can only get the KE4 TC IST (non-adjustable). Would that be similar performance?
