The Vodacom Shop Celebrity Golf Day, an annual highlight on the Western Cape golfing calendar, held on the Pearl Valley Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course on Val de Vie Estate raised R700 000 in aid of the Val de Vie Foundation. The funds raised through the event and auction dinner were allocated to saving lives and empowering learners from 19 under-resourced schools in the Paarl-Franschhoek Valley, through addressing the issue of non-visible pedestrians.
The Val de Vie Foundation is helping to keep our children in school by providing reflective school bags and road safety awareness training, together with Buccaneer school shoes to learners in the Valley.
The Val de Vie Foundation partnered with Visibility is Life – an organization dedicated to improving the safety of all pedestrians by educating the youth on road safety and providing reflective gear. With a portion of the funds raised from the 2018 Vodacom Shop Celebrity Golf Day, a selection of Grade 3 learners attending non-fee-paying schools in the Valley will be provided with a school bag with reflective strips on the front and back.
