  1. backswing looks pretty good, then you just come way over the top rather than going inside out. there’s probably an easy fix for that for someone smarter than me.

  2. over the top, casting your arms towards the ball rather than coming down with your hands and rotating. I have the same issues ive been working on and been using the gate drill and recently ordered alignment sticks to set up to prevent the over the top move and force a shallow swing

  3. Swing is mostly arms. Towel drill

Face turns too much as well

Over the top with a ten finger grip that looks overly tight. Looks like you are strangling the club

  5. Classic over the top. Try to get your hands moving *downward* at the beginning of your downswing, rather than casting out towards the ball. Plenty of drills out there to fix over the top. Nice takeaway though. Good luck man!

Keep your right elbow closer to your body

Backswing looks great. However when you get to the top, it looks like your main thought is to swing out to the left , thus causing a rather extreme over the top downswing. From the top, try to get the feeling that you’re swing well out to the RIGHT, even excessively. Pick a spot (treetop, bush, patch of grass etc etc) well to the right of your target line, and swing towards that. Should help shallow things out a bit.

Wrong angle – camera needs to be behind the hands to be able to judge angles properly

Not too shabby tbh. Ball flight is more like a 3 iron. Over the top yes but salvageable.

Going through this exact issue right now. Great backswing and my hands shoot forward to begin the downswing. This is a habit that was/is difficult to break for me, but what has helped me greatly to improve my swing quality has been to:

    1. Realize and understand this is causing your over the top ball striking.

    2. When you address the ball, feel the right upper arm against your rib cage.

    3. Start your backswing and pause at the top of it and take a look at your hands.

    4. Slowly start your downswing making sure you watch your hands move down first instead of forward first. Pay attention to your upper right arm and keep it close to your ribs. Do this a minimum of 3 times.

    5. Then start #3, after you look at your hands, and hit the ball.

It took time to get this to work for me. I would say at least 6 large buckets of balls at the range. I can honestly say, my ball striking and distance has improved dramatically.

The absolute biggest change took place on the last bucket of balls. I seriously wanted to give up. Then I just said screw it and my only swing thought became “Slow down-feel that arm at my chest on the downswing” and I hit 35 pure dots in a row.

    Edited for stupidity.

An easy fix to this would be to feel like your arms get back to the golf ball/contact point before your body opens at all. I see this a lot on the range when teaching. The over the top is often caused by the left shoulder flying open dragging the hands and club path with it and way out to in. I hope this helps!
