Benjamin Bloom’s EFL Championship HOT TAKES for round 34 focuses on a tough week for Sunderland signalling they could’ve slipped out of the top two race. The play-off race still looks as crazy as ever with Coventry the in-form side, and there were key safety results for Portsmouth and Swansea at the bottom

  1. Burnley 2 nd easy tex bk in may and calling us boring wow you wud love not to conced since 21 dec 21 dec you get that mr Massey u t c 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

  2. As a Leeds fan for me the race for the top 2 still feels very very tight. Yes the last 5 games Leeds have looked the strongest, but things can turn and things can change – and despite looking great, Utd and Burnley have kept within arms reach, so we are by no means done.

I predict all of the top 4 have two more losses in them at least, especially as we get to the business end of the championship.

I’m confident in our lads, but traumatised from our drop off last year and just hope we can get 8 wins from the next 13 games. This would put us on 96points, which I think is enough for automatics and it does feel doable to get this, or even 7 wins and 2 draws. That gives room for 4 losses and a final points tally of 95 which again should be fine for automatics

  3. I think the defeat against Hull will result in a freshening up of the Sunderland team. Players like Chris Rigg should get a well deserved rest for a few games to recover from fatigue so they can come back stronger. Waiting on news on the hamstring issues with Ballard and Le Fee.

  4. Burnley fan. How we survived the first 40 mins on Friday, I’ll never know. Almost criminal we ended the 1/2 ahead. Much much better in the 2nd 1/2, especially after the first subs.
I don’t see us having enough to make the top 2 tbh, but having played a few cup games this year, that’s good practice for the play-offs.

  5. Love how other teams constantly doubt us blades, we love it with the -2 would be on the same points as Leeds and won most games in the league so far

  6. Boro is so damn upsetting. They are playing below their capabilities. Then there is my Millwall. We just like to bite ourselves in the arse frequency

  7. SWFC – Never a 4-0 game vs Burnley but goals change games and they were experts in finishing. It's something that we lack and also defensively we're poor. Games are won and lost in both boxes and that's been a problem – in between them however I think we're good. Play offs are over for us now, it's about finishing as high as we can.

  8. Playoffs for Sunderland, but just can’t see them doing it. Just think whoever isn’t promoted automatically from top three, will be too strong for playoffs.

  9. Bristol city we not for the squad we got a few injuries now so that might take its toll but then it’s might be nakki wells Swansong to get us up

  10. Just noticed that both Leeds and Sheff.Utd badges have the Yorkshire rose upside down. Now for Leeds I can understand it a bit, due to the old shirt with "Leeds Utd AFC" equally spacing in that orientation. But why does Sheffield Utd badge have it that way? It annoys me… its like seeing a Union Jack upside down. (And don't say its only Jack on a ship… that's proven to be pub talk). This is important shit! :p

  11. I think wilder won't be able to help but totally go for it against Leeds (at home Yorkshire Darby and their cup final)and because they are fairly poor they will leave space all over the park for Leeds to exploit. 3 nil to Leeds . ALAW

  12. Wednesday Fan.

Sounding ridiculous to say it but Friday night was not a 4-0 game according to the eye test Still, shows how efficient Burnley are and how wrecked our defence is.

I suspect Wednesday are going to peter out from now and fall back to about 14th.

  13. The Burnley team that beat Luton 4-1 Cardiff 5-0 would have walked this league and been out of sight by now.
Scott Parker's doing exceptional despite loosing 14 players last transfer window.
    A fact overlooked by many.

  14. I had a dream … and just like Martin Luther King, mine was about justice and righteousness … Sunderland beat Burnley in the playoffs by playing proper football not Parker anti-football

  15. There's a long way to go yet. A lot of points to play for. Leeds and Burnley or Burnley and Leeds, for me.

  16. I still believe that Sunderland is going to drop enough points for a 3rd playoff race spot to open.

  17. Was on the Turf Friday, Sheff Weds battered us in the 1st half …..best team I've seen against us at home for the 1st half.

Weds weren't bad in the 2nd half but our class outshone them and Edwards was brilliant

  18. SAFC… The team looks tired. In some ways, I'm glad we can now say we're out of the automatics this early. It means LeBris, who is a long-term thinker, can start protecting the first team for the playoffs while Sheff and Burnley slug it out.

  19. Sunderland need to consolidate now and save ourselves for the playoffs hopefully whoever misses out on auto promotion punch themselves out for the finale (premiership could be a poison chalice if we do get promoted ) !
