  1. I'm afraid for many years I subscribed to Einstein's theory of insanity by doing the same thing ….but expecting different results…what a difference when you find out you actually aren't….

  2. Love this video, thanks Alex!
Recently fixed my slice problems by focusing on my swing path with a neutral grip, hitting up on the ball and rotating arms. Not generating a ton of distance, but very consistent and straight to the fairway. Have been working on a stronger grip that's helped generate more effortless distance, but have been seeing some issues with pulling.
Now, going to go to the range with this info and work on learning shape shots! Really need to add the fade to my arsenal.
    Appreciate your work as always!

  3. I'm having trouble with smash factor, my swing speed is about mid 90's, smash factor is 1.35-1.38. How do I get it up to 1.45ish?

  4. I always believed that every sport has basic skills 'that must be mastered' and then the person modifies those skills to meet their abilities.

  5. I try to start my warmups or early round shots with neutral alignment and neutral grip. I make slight adjustments to either based on the direction of the hole based on my shot pattern that day.

I typically miss left so adjust both grip and alignment to get a slight fade on a target line.

  6. This doesn't work for me… I can have a strong grip with 4 knuckles on my left hand showing and I'll still slice the ball…

  7. Thanks for revisiting this lesson. This is the very first bit of your advice that I put into my game 2yrs back and I had a record year. I still have to break it all down to this concept from time to time to get reset. I was a horrible slicer that straightened out and just about have eliminated the slice. I find I tend to have the hook/pull problem now if things go awry. Can’t wait for some warm weather to refocus for the upcoming season.

  8. You asked for comments, well here is one. I want to thank you!! I had a slice all my life, 2 years ago you helped me get rid of my slice permanently. I switched to a stronger grip and it made a difference. Well now 2 years later I'm hooking the ball 😂, and once again you have rescued me!! I have altered my grip 2 a more neutral as you discussed in the video and my drives are straight as an arrow!! What you do is really appreciated I want you to know that!

  9. How about you bring me on your show here. And have you tape us fixing my driver. You already know the proper way to it the ball. And can shape your shot at will. My flight path is….???? It's never the same.

  10. It makes a lot of sense when you think you about it; our "normal" swing will bring our hands to the same spot at impact every time! If doing that leaves the face open, twist the grip so the face is slight closed at setup, and when we swing, it should be closer to square. For some reason, we think that something magic happens in our swing when we change grips when reality is that nothing happens; we have our hands in the same spot at impact every time! If our hands are the same, change the club relative to our hands… that's the grip!

  11. This is how I play – pretty much adjust my grip thru out the season. But it’s also why I can shoot a 75 or 88 depending on the day

  12. Great tip to free up players to make adjustment that really makes a difference. Like many middle age golfers who were taught a neutral to weak grip in books and lessons, I struggled with a high launch and slice, especially with driver. I was a strong, fit man hitting weak fades all over the golf course. On the tennis court I was an A level player with strong, flat ground strokes. The difference was I played a strong grip with an aggressive weight shift down my target line in tennis, but exactly the opposite in golf. It took me a a couple of months to incorporate the change to my golf swing but the immediate distance gained and the sheer joy of hitting through the ball rather than slicing the cover off of it has completely changed my game. Now at age 65, I am hitting the ball farther and straighter than I was twenty years ago. No exaggeration.

  13. I struggled for years with a super strong grip and a big slice. Because I would hold on to the club and not release it. Most amatures have too strong a grip. This is because most people don't know how to release. They hold it and hit a mile right even with a strong grip. You have to understand the release before this will work.

  14. I was taught from the beginning, to have a neutral grip, I never understand why people get it so wrong, a neutral grip predominantly produces a neutral ball flight, good fundamentals surely.

How important is it..? Ask Scottie Scheffler, that's why he has a grip training aid, to get it neutral ALL the time.

  15. It’s funny how the universe works. I recently adjusted my grip to be a bit weaker on the range and immediately stopped slicing. Played a round on the weekend and my first tee shot went dead straight. This video just confirms what I had worked out myself after slicing for too long

  16. I've given Many Free Lessons to young & old players. I always ask this question 1st, " Whats the 1st thing that you do after you grab your club of choice? I never get the correct answer, Put your hands on the club. Lol! The back of the upper hand is the Club Face at impact . Keep up the Good work!

  17. I had a lesson a few months back and turned my driver slice into a major draw but my hands (I swear) are centered and on the top. I'm thinking in to out path issues but haven't videoed myself yet

  18. I’m a scratch player, and I’ll still slightly weaken my grip for a tee shot that’s OB left, and no trouble right. Or… vice versa. This basically eliminates one side of the shot. You have to be able to predict your ball flight to be good at this game. Period.

  19. Great advice, can this be used for Irons in a similar sense, or just woods and hybrids because of the face structure??

  20. I particularly like the trick about club face alignment using the putting alignment stripe. Also pleased to see you are playing my favorite and IMO the best grips in golf, Iomic ! Can't afford Autoflex however !

  21. Hi Alex i had a chance to try this grip today as i have a slight fade and after a few adjustments like you mentioned. and after a few shots managed to dial in and started hitting straighter shots down the fairway. great tip
