Easiest Swing

  1. Hi Todd, love your stuff! In the golf swing certain motions must be made to happen while others must be allowed to happen. Many of us believe that we swing the club actively with our hands and arms and allow the body to respond. In that philosophy the coiling and uncoiling of the wrists are a reaction to the speed in which we move our arms so the release is passive. Obviously there is only so much control one can have at 90 mph over a fraction of a second. What's your view on the role of the hands/arms/club in relation to the movement of the body and what we make happen vs. what we allow to happen? Thanks!

  2. When I hit my 7-wedges I’m very consistent and have great club speed. But those pesky longer irons and driving I feel like I have to use a different swing, especially the driver.
My 7 iron speed is mid 80’s so I assume I have enough speed and power. But I can hit my 7 almost the same as the 6.
The only thing I can think of is over swinging as I try to max the distance.

  3. I still believe the biggest issue most golfers have is their need for distance.
Most golfers have a repeatable golfswing that does the same thing, it might not be perfect but it's consistent. I think their problems come when they try to match the distances that pros and you tubers are always quoting.
On the ping podcast recently they said that their average driver club head speed for amateurs that go for fittings is 88mph. People are trying to swing over 100 mph and they just aren't capable of it, then they wonder why they can't keep it on the planet.

  4. I have adopted your system to the best of my 70 year old ability- hit my wedges thru 8 iron really solid w good direction- struggle w my hybrids & Driver – ex carry my PW 105 yards (44 degree) my driver carry is around 165-170 – using a 13 degree driver – what needs to be done as to increase my driver distance ? – I am as long or longer w my 8-9 irons and wedges as the majority of my buddies- but am far shorter off the tee w my driver- can you suggest anything that may help ? Thanks

  5. Brian Spark's top instructor back in the day was Julian Mellor. Julian put out the most videos and besides Brian, was the face of Brian's swing and philosophy. He has started his own website too called "Proper Golfing". Worth checking out. Same philosophy as the "Easiest Swing" guys with maybe a little more meat on the teaching bone. https://www.youtube.com/@propergolfing
