Someone not named downs to do well in nfl… im liking matthews.
I think Styles and Reese will be dynamite after another year with James. Hicks will make an impact as a rusher and play some linebacker.
Curious if you guys think Daniels is sure to start or not. Can Ian moore win the Job? I thought he looked solid in limited action.
Kirk, who are the 3 new coaches hired?
C’mon Kirk, Lol — You don’t actually think Hartline is actually gonna be calling the plays in Texas Opener, do you⁉️😆
🏆
Aye Kirk like you said our OL hand placement sucked, never blew DL’s off the ball, Carson needed the whole OL to get hurt to play and prolly was scheme more than anything helped us to title. What exactly did Frye do? Curious your thoughts
I hope that Matt keeps some of the concepts from the Jim Knowles defense, doesn’t just completely trash it!. The team may take a little step back from last season but they still SHOULD BE pretty darn good. My two main concerns are the quarterback position, the depth on the defense line. If the starting quarterback can come in and play smart enough with the football and not turn it over badly that’s going to help, Larry needs to push these defense tackles that aren’t starters!! He needs Moore, Smith Jr, others that have been here it seems like forever to step up. I want to see them all do well!. Go Bucks
What’s the word on Jason Moore?
KIRK: I completely disagree with you about the defense being better in '05 than it was in '06. And yes I'm saying this to you as someone who knew those teams inside and out and better than I did. But the numbers don't lie. That '05 defense had a better LB trio—arguably the best in program history with Hawk, Schlegel and Carpenter. It also had a better Safety tandem than what we had in '06 with Whitner and Salley. However the corners were better in '06. There's no way in hell I'd take Ashton Youbouty over Malcolm Jenkins at cornerback. Just recall how often Youbouty was torched in that Minnesota game. Did you ever see Jenkins in an actual game get torched multiple times against one receiver? Of course not.
The way in which the numbers also don't lie is in how that '06 defense didn't give up more than 17 points for almost the entire season until the *ichigan game when they gave up 39. But the most points they had given up prior to that was at Iowa in a 38-17 win. The rest were 10 or fewer mainly between 3 and 7 points total. In '05 they gave up 25 to Texas, 24 to Sparty, 31 to Minnesota and 21 to *ichigan.
And as a player did you ever think that your '07 defense would be even better statistical wise not talent wise than either of those two? You probably didn't even though you knew the guys you had on your roster. My point is most of us thought that '07 team would take major steps back from where they were in '06. And sure that team was less experienced and not as talented but they accomplished just as much as the '06 team minus the loss to the Illini. But both—no matter how they got there, played in national title games and lost just the same. So we really don't know how much of a step or two back this team will take until we actually see them on the field of play.
Nevada: this defense would've crushed Carson Beck had we played them in the CFP. We had the motivational factor against them. And Beck is the ideal type QB who this type of defense would've sent to the sidelines with cracked bones. It would've been a similar ending for him just like it was when he took on the Texas defense in the SEC title game.
Georgia's defense would've posed about the same chalenges as either Texas's or Notre Dame's. Other than that who did they have on offense that our defense should've feared? Seriously? Who? That speedy H-Back/WR of theirs?
We were the best team period and Georgia would've lost to us just the same had we faced the so please stop bringing them up as if our championship has an asterisk because we didn't face Georgia. Because even if we faced them in the national title game in Atlanta—similar to just two years ago, we were now healthy with a healthy and productive running game with a QB who'd run more than just in the last two minutes of the game as Stroud did. Plus our defense was not about to give up big play after big play to them as it had on the night of December 31, 2022.
Is running back TC Caffey still with the team after his injury last year?
MASSIVE, JUST MASSIVE…..
Random question… worst fan base outside of TTUN. My worst experience was Camp Randle at night. Had Wisconsin fans dumping beer on our heads. I punched some guy, then got my ass kicked by everyone in the stadium. Cops, security, fans, women n children lol.. kicked my ass all the way to the parking lot. 😂 I did at least lay out one of the guys dumping beer on our heads… Go Bucks!!!
