I used to live and listen to AM radio under my pillow when I was told to go to sleep by parents…
I always had Bob Chandler and the old San Diego Padres and I also attended one Westgate Park Padres baseball game back in the day
I'm talking Sports back in 1965 etcetera when the San Diego gulls were also under my pillow as I listen to Sports on my a.m. radio 600 dial
I love listening to the Padres and that voice with Bob Chandler is what I grew up with it brings back tremendous memories
I'm 66 years old and I really enjoy just interview with him
he still sounds terrific as he has always been sharp in the mind and tremendous evaluator of talent
and he was one of my favorite if not all-time favorite broadcaster informative style in which he could paint the picture of the game like you were really there he described it so well
I feel better than most all other broadcasters one other tremendous broadcaster was Charlie Jones who used to do the NFL broadcasting way back in the day was also one of my favorites
But when it came to baseball Bob Chandler was the most knowledgeable and the best I believe in Padre history
-just because of the intelligence of him and the game and sincerity of human insight to bring good old-fashioned common sense and balanced approach to baseball
he's a tremendous human being I love the interview
I hope that you interview him again during the season to get his evaluations
maybe at the halfway point would be tremendous
always great to hear from Bob Chandler he's got to be the top at the list of all time broadcasters –
