In this tip I am talking about the downswing transition. Once you hit the top, I do not want you to think shift or bump your hips. This is too much lateral motion and you will never hit the ball anywhere near as long as you are capable of if you keep doing this. When you shift laterally you don’t get enough rotation needed to be long and consistent.
If you shift or bump into the downswing, then you end up getting too much lateral into your downswing and can hit pushes and push fades and sometimes even duck hooks. These are some of the poor shots that occur when you hit the ball.
If you have any sort of sideways move in your golf swing, then you want to start think about circular rotation. You need to be turning as you transition into the downswing, this is a great feeling to have and then you will start to get rid of the shift and be more consistent and more powerful. This is a great drill for you to be doing until you have mastered the better rotation in your golf swing.
