ASHBURNHAM GOLF CLUB
ASHBURNHAM GOLF CLUB
We are on a South Wales tour and our first stop is the stunning Ashburnham Golf Club.
Myself (Dan Hendriksen) and Brother Paul Hendriksen will be taking the fans favourite Lester Barnes and the big hitting Will Farley.
One of the classic Welsh links courses which celebrated it centenary in 1994. The Club has hosted a long line of important professional and amateur tournaments including the British Home International Team Championships on three occasions, Welsh Amateur Championship on twelve occasions along with more recently the 2015 Welsh Open Stroke Play Championship and was a qualifying venue for the 2014 Seniors Open Championship.
The famous Harry Vardon said: “This is the course I like best in Wales”. His sentiments have been endorsed by more modern professionals. Three Ryder Cup Captains have won professional tournaments at Ashburnham, Dai Rees in the PGA Championship in 1959, Bernard Gallagher won his first tournament in the 1969 Schweppes Championship and it was here that Sam Torrance also gained his first title, the 1976 Martini.
Overlooking Carmarthen Bay, the course has it first two and final three holes near the clubhouse. Holes three to eight strike out, parallel to the sea, straight into the prevailing wind and holes nine to fifteen run back with the prevailing wind directly behind.
A real test off the back tees the course becomes a lot tamer off the general play tees offering a challenge to all levels of golfer especially in a slight wind. Ashburnham is a pure links experience.

Great footage & insight
Nice film and a great way to say thanks to the club for facilitating your visit. 👍🏻
Pure class this channel… Lovely little put together that really enjoyed it, wouldn't mind seeing more of these little vlogs dan 💪
Is Lester going to be asking you to turn his storeroom / workshop into a tour van now ?? I can see him in a place like that ! Don't see many others make vids like this Dan and its another side of golf we don't see during our once a week rounds. I'm looking forward to the next time you're out with the greenkeeper !
Dan. Absolutely superb. I can imagine seeing that video being played on the bbc or sky as they build up to live coverage etc. You are knocking these videos out of the park. Keep it up!
Excellent video Dan, keep em coming
I've never played Ashburnham, when this hell is over it's on the bucket list.
What a very well set up and run golf course. The professional knows his stuff and how knowledgable was the secretary of the course was. Obviously when lockdown is over, I hope as soon as possible, I would like to play golf on this course and challenge my game on this course. Great video and I always look forward to watching your next video.
Nice one Dan – liked the look behind the scenes – some interesting things going on – like the creativity you're introducing – classy!
You have quickly become my favorite channel on YouTube. The banter between all of y'all makes me laugh. The play is great to watch as well. But living in the U.S. and not playing a ton of courses in my life, seeing how beautiful these courses are is amazing.
Love your videos and entertainment. Might be beneficial if you can also comment or provide advise shot techniques. Basically how to approach and how has player approached. Bernie is great but in all videos seems to your side kick.. He need to show his own personality. Keep up the good work with videos , will appreciate slow motion videos for shots as watching it also helps ! 🏌️♀️
Get lee in some more course vlogs!!
Just proves it’s not all about ‘hitting the golf ball’, as there’s so much more that goes on within the game of golf, especially the environmental aspects of the course. I do like these snippets behind the scenes, keep doing them if you can.
all kidding aside, the quality of this video is stunning. one of the best I've ever seen of the type. congratulations.
For what it’s worth I loved that Dan! Always enjoy the history and information you bring to the places you visit. Especially for those of us who will likely never get across the pond to play those amazing courses, it’s nice to feel like we’ve been there in a small way. 👍🏻
Loving the increase in production quality over time 💖 The leap from the French courses to now is phenomenal! The way the beat hit right as Dan struck his drive😘🤌🤌🤌Outstanding work lads! Your work does not go unnoticed. Lee is still my spirit animal🦄✨
For not having any course vlogs, that was pretty good.
This Harry Vardon guy you quoted in the intro…what kind of grip does he use? :^)~
Great video Dan quite could we have this as a late Sunday show when golf is back open before you realise the vlogs on the Monday by far the best channel on YouTube 👍
Great video Dan, really interesting to see the history of the club and the people that make the club work 👍🏌️⛳️
Dan great video. You guys rock on your production quality
Fantastic inside Dan 😎 Please do some more of these behind the club scenes. 🤩👊🏻
Another insightful Vlog – superb 👏🏻👏🏻
Lucky enough to play Ashburnham last year. Absolute gem. Scariest practice putting green ever.
Great video Dan very professional 👍👍🏌🏻♂️
Love Ashburnham. Proper old club, super course and a great Welsh Welcome
Brilliant video, thanks. How about doing another video every week as a Q&A like the Sunday show?
Great insight into the club and something I would like to see more of along with the regular features from Torquay on the Sunday Morning Show. Definitely want a trip to South Wales now.
Just a thought, doing some more of your interesting history pieces on various golf courses might go quite well while things are still closed. 👍
Blimey Lester is going to be creating that kind of fitting area! Good behind the scenes video. Thanks
Hi Dan, maybe you could get together with Paul and maybe the guys somehow would love to hear what sort of food you guys eat through a round of golf and how often you would snack. I am still trying to find something that will sustain me for a round other subscribers may find this interesting as well, cheers, Bryan
I can see a new revenue stream coming Dan… doing paid videos for courses that they can link on their websites. Having watched the great film work of this place in the vlog I would love to play the course after lockdown. 👍
Dan how about a series of looking at the top 50 or 100 golf courses in the UK. Going over the design and history and what you think of the course. I really enjoy the course vlogs but it’s nice to see some different golf content
Should you not be in lockdown????
Just got back into golf and enjoying a few channels on YouTube. I've found yours the best combination of entertaining and informative. Combining this with the playing vlog is a great example of why. Will be going back into the archive through lockdown.
Production values here are highly impressive 👍
Watched a golf event there on the weekend, lovely course. Brutal in the wind
