I’m working on being more aggressive and athletic getting my body through the swing instead of exhibiting a tendency to lay back. This is not too bad on driver because the ball is teed up. But it’s rough to see wedge shots chunking into the water because body got stuck behind and I hit it fat
I film myself frequently and have a good awareness of my swing mechanics, but I realize if you are not getting constant help and feedback on your technique for all manner of peak performance endeavors, not just golf, but high jumping and basketball shooting and pickle balling, you are selling yourself short.
I recreate with many people who don’t care that much about being competitive or reaching their potential. And it’s great for all of us to get out there and get some exercise and have a good social experience. However, I want to put in a strong vote for pursuing peak performance with passion throughout life. I think the rewards are greater when you make a concerted effort to be the best you can be.
I also emphasize that you must release the attachment of self-esteem to the outcome. So this message is not about getting all uppity and full of yourself. I had a little temper burst during my round, and received some excellent feedback from Christopher: “hey, this sport is really hard, you haven’t been playing much in recent years and so you’re not that good. You don’t deserve to complain about that shot.” LOVE IT!
yes, it’s possible to get over yourself, have a lot of fun, and also compete with intensity and passion, and do your best
