NY Mets: Pete Alonso talks Mets contract, returning to team in 2025
As the Mets’ Pete Alonso returned to spring training, he addressed expectations and tough negotiations on Feb. 17, 2025, in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
The Mets were looking to bring the good vibes for New York Golf Club.
With “Narco” blaring, Pete Alonso, Jeff McNeil and Brandon Nimmo led out the New York team of Rickie Fowler, Matthew Fitzpatrick and Cam Young for their match against Tiger Woods’ Jupiter Golf Links in the teams’ TGL Matchup in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
Mets owner Steve Cohen, who provided an optimistic outlook of the team on Tuesday afternoon, was also in the crowd. Cohen also owns New York Golf Club.
New York Golf Club entered the matchup winless in its two matches, outscored 2-12 combined against Atlanta Drive and the Bay Golf Clubs. The Mets trio provided some strong luck as New York raced out to a 5-0 lead against Jupiter through five holes.
It is about an hour drive from the Mets’ spring training complex in Port St. Lucie, Florida, to Sofi Center on Palm Beach State College’s campus, where TGL is contested. C.C. Sabathia was also spotted in the crowd alongside the trio of Mets.
Away from the baseball diamond, McNeil is an accomplished golfer. He won the celebrity division of the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions in 2024 at Lake Nona Golf and Country Club in Orlando, Florida.
