  1. I’ve been asking this question for years. If the golf swing is a “ throw” ( I feel it is) what are you throwing and WHERE ARE YOU THROWING IT. This is the first time I’ve had a logical answer. Ps I’m a Fred Shoemaker fan. Thanks for this. The golf jigsaw is nearly complete.

  2. Great video , i use the throwing the club motion whenever i feel a bit stuck , mis aligned or even a bit tense , it synchs me up and gets my natural alignment and posture back , the actual swing is always directed for me into the back of the ball between 9 and10 oclock depending with the intention of going into the ground although i very very rarely take a divot more a shave , that is the intention and aim .
I only use the throw feels to synch up my timing and stop damaging swing thoughts or wobbles .
Club and or clubhead follows lead arm ( like throwing) that is my only allowed thought and feel .

  3. This is totally inconsistent with your theory of where momentum is released and your pro throw video about 3 feet behind the ball. Please clarify this to us pro owners.

  4. I have worked with Fred over the years. If you take a lesson with him, he has you throw the club at the ball, just as you described.

  5. fred was close it gives awareness at throwing the club at the target butttttt throwing it at the ball is generally the mechanics/ body movement everyone needs and should have, thanks for bringing this in video

  6. Hey Dan , i would hope the gentleman who wrote the concept on throwing the club at the target ,i believe he was thinking that we would turn it into a golf swing to actually hit the ball, but you definitely made his piont clearer, i watched a few of his videos and he had a great golf mind , stern in his approach, but a great golf mind, you're an outstanding teacher, but it was all about the game of golf, so I'm thinking he thought that we the student would understand to get that feeling but direct towards the ball. No? feels and reals ,its the great unknown in the golf swing.

  7. Hi Dan – another great video. Can't tell you how much your teaching has revolutionized my ball striking. Curious if you would do a video about hitting out of long rough. That is an area I struggle with and feel I need to apply leverage to the club in order to get the ball out. Keep up the great videos! Very much appreciated.

  8. I'll do you one better – my intention is throwing the force well behind the ball (early release) and letting momentum just carry through the ball. May be a feel vs real thing but the more I feel I'm going behind and letting it go, the better I do.

  9. I have a used set of clubs that I used for throwing at the target. I quit because my ball striking did not improve. When I started using the PRO I discovered that I needed to sling the PRO to the ground and not the target. Today, I explored throwing the clue and to the ground and I videoed both going to the ground and the target. To the ground with the club and PRO look very similar in motion. When I used a ball I had to throw the club to the ground in front of the ball. That changed everything for me. In the bunker I used behind the ball.

  10. Dan is correct. Follow overhand golf, they are both dead on. To throw the club at the ball you have to release or leverage force before the ball. Club is designed that way. It’s not a bat. Club face is off the axis of club. I’m not explaining that well, sorry. But this is huge, see overhand golf. Complimentary channels

  11. Manuel de la Torre's two ball drill produces a body support similar to the throw the club at the ball drill.

  12. Found this to be very helpful to me. That change of intension is making a difference in my ball striking. We will see if it lasts for any length of time. Appreciate your work.

  13. Wonder if there enough continuity in the momentum towards the target where the ball is collected and released towards the target. Will surely try this. Interesting. And the kinetic chain which is there with the throwing action is very important for the body getting out of the way.
