In January 2020, I embarked on a journey to create a YouTube channel dedicated to raising awareness about critical issues facing firefighters, such as post-traumatic stress (PTS) and occupational cancer, all through the lens of the game of golf. My mission is to shed light on these challenges, as PTS is a very real struggle in the first responder community. My hope is to make a meaningful impact, reaching at least one person who can benefit from this message.
My name is Steve Pope, and I’ve proudly served as a firefighter with the Kansas City, Kansas Fire Department for 27 years and the Merriam Fire Department for 1 year. As an avid golfer, I’m excited to combine my love for the game with my commitment to raising awareness about these important issues.
