From what I heard is her China team made the playoffs and had a good chance to win it all. But to do that she would be playing almost until May and that will not work knowing she needs to practice with all the new Fever players to be ready for the season.

I can understand the players who don't play much or get paid well to go overseas. They get extra money and playing time. But the top players shouldn't even be playing in the Unrivaled League, especially with all the injuries that it has brought this winter.
You scared me because it looked like she was forced to quit the WNBA. They currently get paid a lot more overseas than they do in the WNBA, that's why so many play there in the off season. I sure hope Kelsey still gets some money for staying. I'm excited that they'll have more time to prepare for the season…this is HUGE for the team!
Her WCBA team Shanxi is second in the standing and already clinched a post-season spot. Shanxi is the only team that defeated the reigning champion so far this season. It is a big blow to her China team. Without Mitchell their hope has gone.

Mitchell should be with the Fever's training staff and her other starting players. Though I do not like her commitment to a team and leaving the high and dry. The Fever should have taken care of Mitchell so not having to play overseas. I do believe the suggestion you had that the Fever asked and did.
It’s sad for the fans , coaches, and teammates in China. I am sure they love having Kelsey on their team. I know I would hate to have Kelsey quit and leave the Fever in the middle of the season. It would be sad and devastating, especially if you are making a playoff push. I also believe in sticking to a commitment you make, unless there are an unforeseen circumstances that causes you not to be able to fulfill your contract. I am sure it was not an easy decision for her, knowing that she is a thoughtful and passionate person. I am sure the Fever organization had a lot of say in her decision.
