The 2021 TaylorMade SIM2 Max has been a fan-favorite for years, and many golfers refuse to take it out of their bag. But with the release of the 2025 TaylorMade Qi35, has the game officially changed? 🤔

We put these two drivers to the ultimate test—comparing distance, forgiveness, ball speed, dispersion, and overall performance—to see if the SIM2 Max is still a beast in 2025 or if golfers are clinging to outdated tech.

Is the SIM2 Max still worth gaming, or are you making a HUGE mistake by not upgrading? Watch to find out!

  1. I know early stealth stuff the carbon face would cave in. Think that’s been fixed with qi? I played one in a rental set and loved it but I don’t want to spend 600 on a club that breaks

  2. I'm sorry bud 97mph is not going to get you a 266 carry with any driver. I swing 105 and i'm not carrying it 266 all the time.

  3. I am still using the R11S and the only driver I would consider swapping to is the Sim2 or the PXG Gen 6. I've been waiting for the sim2 to drop in price but they literally still go for like $250. I feel like most drivers from that time are going for about $150 max

  4. Bought the sim 2 brand new and returned it. Couldn't hit it to save my life. Took the shaft out and put it in another brand and it was a way better set up.

  5. I tried the qi35. Core and Max. I agree the head looks way too freagan big in the max. I don’t know if the grey makes it looks larger but it is like a half moon. Not into it. I am using the ai smoke max. It looks small in comparison. It really threw me off.

  6. Interesting test, maybe, the recent focus on forgiveness is doing something, as USGA limits prevent the face from getting any hotter. Anyway, you guys sounded really congested from your trip, hopefully from too much fun.

  7. The worst testing I’ve ever seen from 2 guys who can’t hit a ball, I play sim2max and have tried all the new big brand models, nothing even compares to the sim2max

  8. I played with a pro who was using clubs from the mid 70s in the mid 90s and would shoot below par, I think we’re all too focused on the wrong things in golf and these marginal gains really don’t mean much. Equipment may make a few stroke difference but there are pros using 10 year old equipment which kind of tells you something. These guys are in the business of selling clubs, new ones.

  9. Love the content as usual. Funny part is there are reasons tests that are compared to older club models are usually TaylorMade Sim 2 and Cobra F9, generally thought the best those companies ever made. For some reason they seem to be the standard when trying to see driver improvement. Even funnier, I have both drivers I mentioned abut yet don't play either, but they are so iconic I wont let them go.

  10. thanks for the honest review. its nice to see dudes with over the top swing and who are not as good as other golfers who do reviews. SIM max 2 it is for me

  11. If you're a newb smacking it all over the face, then a stupid expensive driver is still a big waste of money.

  12. I just bought the sim 2max 9* in December coming from the stealth and hit it 100% better than the stealth. Love this driver

  13. I’m still rocking my SIM2 driver and SIM2 TI 3W. I had a custom Fujikura ATMOS TS 7 Blue shaft built for my SIM2 driver and a custom VA Composites Raijin fairway wood shaft built for my SIM2 TI 3W. In 2025 and testing a few clubs at some golf exposes, I really cannot argue with the performance and consistency the SIM2 clubs continue to provide. I will be proud, to rock the 5th element looking driver and 3W this golf season!!!

  14. When you factor in price though, the choice becomes a little easier. A sub $300 club vs a $599 club. People in this economy with still go Sim 2 all day and twice on Sunday.

  15. Great content Gents. I have three Sim2 MAX D drivers all with Mitsubishi Tensi blue and the Sim@ Ti woods as well including the rocket- man I just cannot let go of them- to me they look incredible at address almost like a driver with a tuxedo on lol. I have 9-10.5 and 12 and have x-s-r shafts I did this so at different times of the year I swing each of them depending on conditions here in PA also so the last forever. Great content-

  16. Not worth the price tag, I will keep Sim2 for couple more years. Gaining minimal forgiveness and 3 yds distance at most isn't as quantifiable as handing over $630 to Taylormade.

  17. SimMax2 275-280 carry down the middle hit good 260-265 down the middle hit on the toe or heel stays in my bag until it cracks and I can’t find another one on eBay.

  18. This is just over exaggerated small differences. Lets be super honest driver havent gotten that much better. Not $900 different. My TSr3 was the exact same as the GT3. it's all relative.

  19. I just picked up a Sim Max2 D a month ago, jury is still out. I'm coming from a M5, which I hit relatively well, but the Sim seems more predictable. I played with a guy last week that had the QI35 in 12 degree (I play 10.5) with a regular shaft, I play a stiff. I hit his club on the hardest par 4 on the course and hit one of the best drives I've hit on that hole, it was 25 yards past my Sim and dead center to the narrowest part of the fairway. I tried it again on the next par 5 and hit a weak fade about 15 yards short of the Sim, on the same fade line. Bottom line for me is I have an inconsistent swing, and more forgiveness is the most important part.

  20. @embersgolf cool video, I have been hearing a lot about Avoda Irons, could you guys do a review? would like to hear your opinion.
