Sometimes as golfers we can overcomplicate the game and by understanding a very simple method you can allow one golf club to reduce your handicap and hit more greens in regulation.

Alternatively- what that data tells you is that the closer you are to the green, in this case 100 yards. The less difference in percentages there is between a scratch and 15 handicap golfer. The opposite is true with putting – the further from the pin the less difference in percentages between all handicaps
I’ve seen any number of videos where you claim to carry only one wedge – stating that carrying more than one is “confusing”. Now you have that many wedges in your bag that you have to tape paper with the distances written on the paper to the shafts 🤷♂️😀
Totally agree, just need to get myself a fancy indoor sim room setup in the coming months 🤞🏻
I am an old fart and my 45* wedge is my 40 to 100 yard club. I also own a 54* and I practice these clubs as much as I can. Thank you.
Pros typically have their Wedges flattened by 2 degrees to correct for the loft moving the flight path left-Rather than aiming further right a varying amount based on distance.
I adjust my hand placement up and down the grip of my wedges to effectively alter the length of my club and thus the shot distance.
This is so simple, and I’m a simple soul. Fantastic practical tip, Andy, once again. Thanks.
Funny enough had a lesson today on 70-100 yards. A very good video as always! Writing yardages down is a pretty good idea!
You absolutely correct Andy. There are two things I did to lower my scores. Gapping with my clubs and buying and Range finder. Knowing the exact yardage to the pin and what club will get me there greatly improved my scores.
Also good to try out a quarter/knee high/7.30 swing, speed golf Rob has a really good video on 7.30 swings!!! It really helped with chips that were under 50 yards
At this time of year I’ll be a pw or 9 iron to 100yds but the half swing / 3 quarter practice is key
This is the only golf site that I go to.
Good video andy got the cleveland smart sole chipper can play any distance from 100yards in with full swing or any distance less only high or low if i had a 54degree wedge be lucky to get 65yards with it
Thank you, Andy.
I rarely make bad bad decisions or poor club choices. But the darn pulls, pushes, fats, thins….
🇨🇦👀🍻
I've also used a 26 degree wood to run balls up to the green dependant on like and sometimes confidence lol ,but playing with younger guys their hitting 309 plus and not necessarily straight but 150 in ..they let's say suck lol
Tom Kite had a article in Golf Magazine about 30 years ago called the 4 X 3 system. Four clubs, three swings, twelve yardages you can hit with confidence from 120 yards to the green. You should recalibrate the yardages every year to compensate for your declining capacities when you're our age.
It never ceases to amaze me the ridiculous Clickbait YouTubers use to get people to watch their channels. Well done this one must be one of your all-time greats.
Totally agree Andy. I carry 3 wedges and have the swing, half-swing & quarter distances laminated on one piece of paper. That way I can see all of the distances at a glance and the cross-over distances are easily seen, especially as I highlight these in different colours. Cheers
Thank You so much for all your excellent golf videos. I absolutely love the channel!
I have 4 wedges: 46, 50, 54 and 58, in the bag, and know my distance with each. I practice on a simulator indoor currently and I use a drill where I have set up a circle around the flag. If I hit the middle of the area it's a birdie, if I hit the outer area of the circle it's a par. If I come up too short of the circle it's a double bogey, if I overshoot and the ball is to long it's a bogey. This drill I found on Titleists website, and it makes me go after the pin and I have great fun using it. And accuracy is improving quite a bit.
I had a decent high school coach. He made us do this Andy. He made us play with PW and SW as our only wedges. Everyone had a data book, a section for each iron, wood, and a putter section. We were young so he made it simple. Full swings and half swings. The guys were getting better quickly. I'm 65, so it has been some time ago but I'm not sure many school coaches were doing this in that time period at public schools. It is effective. I do know people that modify it by ball position to affect the height and run out. However you approach the problem, you are right. Get the ball on the green more often from 100yds and yes, scores drop. I also adopted the philosophy of hit any club you need to in order to get off the tee that takes out water, out of bounds, or no-go terrain (trees, super rough, brush, etc.). Excellent video.
Nice one Andy. Lack of GIR imho is not because of lack of wedge control. Mid handicappers compensate for their low GIR% by a killer short game 🙂 because their drives are not long enough and subsequently their longer irons are not accurate enough to land on the green.
wheres the 'really like' button ,
putter
Very good information enjoyed watching the video
Andy, i recently bought a zipcore cbx 52, i hit my pw 110, I am only going to carry 2 wedges and am replacing my cleveland cg15 58 degree 8 bounce, should i get 56 full face 2 or cbx 4 58, your thoughts?. I am a lefty so choice limited.
Basic but priceless information
I done something similar to my new wedges,
Along with a range finder my approach play has improved.
Helps with lay ups to.
Great channel 👍
Is it against the rules to do this?
Good stuff and something I need to do. You could expand this to hitting into, or with, strong winds which are common where I am (Anglesey). However, you'd need a notebook 😀
48/52/57 three wedges to handle accordingly
I taped a list of my yardages on the back of my iPhone case. My golf app is always on anyway so see the yardage, turn the phone over, find the right club.
Good info
This 'tip' is as old as the hills. Pointless video particularly as you've been at it for a year and haven't improved by the look of it.
Seriously? You need sticky labels to remember 50, 75 & 100? That's hilarious!
For amateur golfers 60% of all shots are within 120 yards yet when you go to the range everyone is just spraying the big dog. If everyone did this on your video and learned to putt their handicap would drop by 10
I like this .!! Is it allowed in competition to have these on your clubs
All of my wedges balloon up and left. I'm stuck having to finesse 9 irons into that yardage.
Hello Andy , great content, thank you. I wish I had such a hitting studio. 😊😊😊
Great tip Thank you . Need to find a location that has trackman
Did this last year and knocked 7 shots off my handicap!
I’ve been doing this for a long time. Top tip have the yardages for the three swings for carry distance only. Then you have the numbers for all year round. You learn how to adjust easier when the roll out is less in winter more in summer.
Great info Andy. Thanks👍🏻
