Volkswagen Canada has announced pricing and updates for the refreshed 2025 Golf GTI and Golf R. The Golf GTI starts at $36,495 ($34,795 in 2024) and is available in two trims, while the Golf R is priced from $50,995 ($49,195 in 2024, $50,595 with DSG). The new models introduce exterior, interior, and performance updates.

The 2025 Golf GTI features a redesigned front bumper, updated headlights with a red character line, and an illuminated Volkswagen logo with a standard lightbar. Two new exterior colours—Alpine Silver Metallic and Slate Blue Metallic—join the lineup. Standard 18-inch “Jerez” machined alloy wheels come fitted with all-season tires.

Inside, the GTI receives a new freestanding 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen powered by a new interface with faster software and an improved layout. Physical buttons replace the previous haptic controls on the steering wheel, and a 15-watt wireless charging pad has been added. Standard features include navigation, Dynamic Road Sign Display, Park Distance Control with front and rear sensors, and Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS).

The 2025 GTI continues to be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 241 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. A 7-speed DSG transmission remains the sole gearbox option in Canada.

The Autobahn trim, replacing the previous top-spec Performance trim, is priced from $40,495. It comes with Artvelour seating surfaces as standard, with an optional leather package ($1,200) adding power-adjustable front seats with memory, ventilation, and additional comfort features.

For 2025, the Golf R gains an additional 13 horsepower, bringing its output to 328 hp. The 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic remains the only transmission option, paired with 4MOTION all-wheel drive featuring rear-axle torque vectoring.

Exterior updates include revised headlights, a redesigned front bumper, and an illuminated Volkswagen logo with a standard lightbar. The new “Warmenau” 19-inch forged alloy wheels are 20% lighter than the previous Golf R wheels, contributing to improved handling.

Inside, the 2025 Golf R features the same new 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system as the GTI, running Volkswagen’s latest MIB3 operating system. Additional interior updates include:

Volkswagen is introducing an all-new Black Edition trim for the 2025 Golf R, priced at $53,595. This edition features blacked-out styling elements, including:

The Black Edition includes a no-charge cloth seating option and an available Akrapovič titanium exhaust ($3,000), which reduces weight by 7 kg and enhances the exhaust note.

Colour options for the Golf R and Black Edition include Mythos Black Metallic, Pure White, and Lapiz Blue Metallic. Black Edition models with Pure White or Lapiz Blue exteriors feature a contrasting black roof.

The 2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI and Golf R are now available for order and will begin arriving at Canadian dealerships this spring.
