   Just put a 9 wood in for tournament season coming up. +1 handicap but struggle hitting long irons high enough to hold greens. Ping G430 max 24* flies between 215-225 depending on flight. Replaced my 4 iron personally

   I get the importance of a wood, but why can’t you just use a hybrid instead? Especially if the goal is height and flight of an ‘5 iron’

   Since your 7w v 4hy video, I’ve put the qi10 5w, 7w, 4hy and 5hy in the bag and now irons start from a 6. These are absolute cheat codes!! * my HC is 22

    I'm a poor iron striker. I bought a 9w for myself on my 55th birthday. At my home course, the shortest par 3 is a 145 carry, others are 160ish. I hit my 9w like a good player hits a 7i

    Finally got a 9 wood in the bag man oh man I think it’s my favorite club bye bye 4 iron. I can hit it 223 and it rolls out to 225 lol I love it. Can also draw it 240 off a tee if I need

    Put a 9 wood in back end of last season, as play links and the rough was wicked, dropped 4 iron , absolute weapon can hit from anywhere. You could go up on that back left of shot and play it half way up that. I'm Carrying Driver, Min Driver, 5w, 9w .

    Well this was sooner than expected! (I commented on a video the other day asking for advice and you kindly replied telling me to expect this video soon).

    I have a Qi10 7 wood in the bag currently and can confirm it's my favourite club I've ever owned. Got a 4 wood on order to sit between that and driver, next in line to replace is the 4 iron. Would love to see a 4 iron Vs 9 wood Vs 5 hybrid video at some point, see if the hybrid offers the versatility the 9 wood is missing.

    Edit: even better would be good to show the effect at different swing speeds. I'm on the higher end with 119-120 club head speed on course (for driver ofc), capping out at 125-126 if I'm swinging out my shoes/might miss the ball.

    Best thing i did for my game was putting 7 wood,9 wood, and 6 hybrid in the bag to replace the 4,5,6 irons.

    9 wood owner here, another time it comes in useful is out of position shots. The cg and loft makes hitting long approaches over trees far easier and gives you a lot of confidence you can carry the ball all the way back there.

    Great vid – I play a 7 wood and to be honest only need that and my driver – but the bit I picked up here is what you said about stiffer shaft and length is spot on – thinking Ping G440 4 wood 7 wood and 9 wood Velecore 5/6S and no hybrids then in to a six iron – play a tournament course in Surrey and need the length and height- great vid 👍

    I love my 9 wood, I don't have the clubhead speed to get a 5-iron high enough in the air for it to stop on the green whereas my 9 wood, I can. I get asked why I don't carry a hybrid and I just prefer the look of a fairway wood behind the ball. I have more confidence in it than I do a hybrid and that's what it's about, the confidence to produce a shot when you need.

    I bought a 2nd hand 9 wood about 3 years ago, a bit of a drunken eBay bid when I was playing foursomes (alternate shots) and my playing partner an old boy who could only hit the ball about 150 yards.
    Often I'd be playing from the rough as he'd not reached the fairway, the 9 wood allowed me to hit the ball a good distance rather than just have to chase it up with a 7 iron.
    Since then it's been the best club in my bag, 230 full shots to gripping down in a bad lie from 180 upwards it's been a game changer.
    The only issue is back wind you've got to be careful, I've had it out carry my 5 wood in the wind and go nowhere into wind.
    It's a club I'd suggest everyone to try.

    TaylorMade needs to make these clubs for lefties. Most of the specialty clubs never come in left-handed options, and it’s honestly frustrating. I’d buy one in a heartbeat.
