BREAKING ROYAL ST. GEORGE’S: Home of The Open Championship – Ep. 1

On Sunday, Collin Morikawa pulled away to win The Open Championship at Royal St. George’s Golf Club on a sunny July afternoon in England. And while this edition of Breaking Royal St. George’s takes place at the exact same Open Championship course, from the exact same Open Championship tees — the experience is totally different.

Four members of Random Golf Club England — Al, Hugo, Jake, and Tom — take on an already-difficult challenge on one of the worst weather days in recent memory. These are the kinds of conditions that would give Morikawa and Spieth the ultimate test.

In this edition of the Breaking Series, our guests are playing a little alternate shot, known as “foursomes” at St. George’s, in two-person teams. Get ready for hats blown off, sideways rain, and a little bit of Brit Rock. Enjoy!
What would you shoot from the tips at Royal St. George’s on a day like this?

  1. So harsh to get weather like this and have it sunny and fine for The Open. Great Series but this is a hard watch. I feel so sorry for those guys. It costs £250 for a day's golf at St George's Can you imagine getting a day like this? Not fun.

  2. Lmao they are so delusional, 5hcp saying +10 would be a good score. +25 would be a good score.

  3. The rules at this course are awful. Only 2 balls in play per group. Have to wear knee high socks when wearing shorts. Must show proof of handicap less than 18. No phones on the course or in the clubhouse. Draconian garbage that only reduces interest in golf. Not sure I'd play here even if it was paid for.

  4. Where in Leicester are Jake and Tom from? I lived in Oadby and Rothley from 98-03. Rare that you see anyone from Leicester featured in much globally. Glad to see this.

  5. Got into this channel for the superb content. However these videos that center around other players are just not the same.
Appreciate the effort and will likely watch …. but quite a dip in the engagement factor.

BTW …… PLEASE NEVER EVER EVER EVER DO ALTERNATING SHOT AGAIN. MOST UNENJOYABLE GOLF TO PLAY OR WATCH EVER IMAGINED.

  6. I love how single handicappers feel the need to tell the rest of us that they don't get stressed out playing golf.

  7. No offense to these dudes, they seem like great guys and good golfers, but no way in hell are they 4s and 5s and 7s

  8. If I lived in the UK and had to play under these conditions I'd have probably fell out of love fast. I'm surprised UK golfers aren't consistently the best in the world

  9. I don't care how historic or magnificent the club might be, I can't imagine membership at a two-ball club. That's a lot of money to pay to never be able to play your own ball. How do you manage handicaps?

I have enjoyed all the other Breaking series, but to me this one is a dud. Golfer's ability levels too similar, playing off of artificial mats, and the weather is just too rough for it to even enjoy watching. Just my opinion. I'll skip off to another series without watching the rest of this one.

But here's the thing… even if I don't enjoy this one, the production quality of all of the Random Golf Club Films is superb! So far my favorite was the women playing in the Breaking Muirfield series. Highly recommend it!

  10. Played Royal Cinque Ports at this time…wind was horrendous. You have to have a running stinger-draw in your arsenal or you're completely bu**ered.

Also played Princes which is next door to RSG. It looked great with the stands up.
