TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -Shawnee County Commissioners heard updates Monday morning from Parks and Recs on a Shawnee County golf course.
2024 was the first year Shawnee Co. took over operations of all the golf clubhouses in the county.
Parks and Rec Director Tim Laurent says revenue and course usage both went up in 2024.
However, Laurent says the golf clubhouse at the Cypress Ridge Golf Course is in need of repairs after seven decades of usage.
On Monday city leaders toured the clubhouse to look at the possible repairs needed.
And with the city discussing a four-lane expansion on Urish, county leaders have to consider investing in repairs or building something new.
“I think anytime you are looking at making a major investment in one of our facilities or, you know, whether it’s a park or a clubhouse. You want to make sure we are spending the taxpayer’s dollar wisely and that we are going to get a good return on our investment,” says Parks and Rec Director, Tim Laurent.
Commissioners say no decisions have been made and every option is on the table for consideration at this time.
