The reason is simply because Messi at his height and stature has a centre of gravity that helps him control the ball at such speeds. He has always been consistently the smallest player on the field and it's hard to hip check him when he jets off
First time I saw the goal on replay, I said "Ouch". How did he manage to that? Other player may got injured for trying to do what he did.
