So as an Avs fan who has watched Rants since he was drafted I don't think Carolina fans know exactly what they got if they haven't watched the games.
He is light on his feet for such a "Moose" and easily can get taken off the puck. He definitely doesn't excel in a defensive system, and has only played in one type of system his whole professional career (which has been highly beneficial to his playstyle).
He has a wicked one-timer sure, and has a very soft touch around the net which can make some "goal scorers goals" but he isn't McDavid or Mackinnon that can drive his own play and create scoring opportunities one his own. He excels at being setup but that means you need an elite setup man if you guys are expecting the 100+ points player he was in CO.
I hope I'm wrong but he isn't looking like he is fitting in the system and he may not even be motivated to (as that's sometimes an issue as well with him).
Best of luck but it wasn't the fleece everyone thinks it was.

I love Rod as much as anyone but I don’t think his style helps stars be stars. Guentzel had trouble scoring goals when he was here…but did rack up assists when Aho scored. Rantanen having trouble too. We will see.
