Join us on another episode of The Smylie Show, as Smylie Kaufman and Charlie Hulme take a different approach to recapping this week’s PGA TOUR stop at one of the most iconic venues in golf!
Fresh off a whirlwind West Coast trip, Charlie discusses his love for Cypress Point and a number of Tour pros who checked it out before the AT&T Pro-Am began. The tournament recap begins with comments from Rory McIlroy about how venues matter in golf, leading into Smylie ranking every golf course used on a recurring basis by the PGA TOUR from top to bottom.
We conclude by marveling at the highlights of Rory’s performance at Pebble Beach, grading Scottie Scheffler’s return from a hand injury, highlighting Tom Kim as part of an ongoing discussion about pace of play on Tour, and very briefly reacting to Luka Doncic’s shocking trade to the Lakers.

Regarding pace of play, what’s the downside to allowing range finders? I assume it’s to do with traditionalists and part of me likes to keep it old school. But equipment gets tech upgrades yearly, courses get redesigned to add length and difficulty as tech advances. Use range finders….. Problem solved. “Anna Carter hates slow play…”
I thought he meant TPC sawgrass as well to be fair 😂. Another banger episode gentleman 🤙🏻
Favorite part of Monday mornings. You misspelled TPC Deere Run at 1. Scottie’s “knock the rust off” is good for a top 10? Hammer down for 6 more wins and tour championship this year. Scottie is inevitable
I instantly realized Smylie was thinking Sawgrass when he ranked the SC and was doing the Jack Nicholson head nod gif while waiting for Charlie to get to Sawgrass
Drops of Jupiter, interesting go-to. Personally, I'm an "Apologize x One Republic" sort of guy.
Great show as always. However, I'm surprised that you aren't challenging the whole "round ravioli" thing! Aren't ravioli round? Am I wrong?
i cant believe sam reeves is your grand dad.. what a great guy
Putting players “on the clock” does nothing. Stroking needs to be done
Great episode fellas. For a Monday morning golf nerd in -28 Calgary, this is a treat.
Fun one this week, boys 🥃
I’ve got Scottie at WMPO with Tom K and Nick T top-20, parlay 🫱🏻🫲🏼
Another great episode gents! 👍👍
Sawgrass is the best course for sure.
They're both great but Sawgrass is just a better course start to finish.
Pebble more so relies on it's history and views, which are obviously incredible, the 6 7 8 stretch is iconic, and 18 as well. But Sawgrass is like Indiana Jones, you're going on an adventure having to hit shot shapes and dodging traps and hazards. Also has history and it's signature holes. 16 17 18 is one of the best finishes in golf and is always capable of delivering drama.
31:50 Smylie I will not tolerate the slander of my beloved Michigan event. I challenge you to a match the week of the Rocket classic year

I think the whole pace of play issue is the fact that Dottie Pepper was frustrated about the field at Farmers. Especially her final group not having the superstar. A lot of golf sites ran with it cause everybody and their mother was frustrated that the superstars ran away cause they didnt want to get beat up by Torrey Pines South twice in 3 weeks. Bryson got a healthy stipend to go play in India and everybody their mother covers it. Smylie is right, I wasnt surprised either. What everybody failed to mention was that Ollie won on a very difficult course embrassing 3 LIV players. He was -10, Bryson was -6, Abraham Ancer and Joaquin Niemann were -2. Only 4 players finished under par for the week.
Thanks for the photo at Bay Hill on the final round last year Smylie!!
