The Alabama high school golf season is getting ready to tee off.

The golf season starts Feb. 6 and the regular season will run through the sectional tournament on April 29-29. The Sub-state tournament is May 5-6 with the state tournament being held from May 12-13. The Robert Trent Jones-Oxmoor Valley course located in Birmingham is slated to host the state tournament.

Here’s some golfers to watch in the area:

Why chosen: Bearden helped to lead the Eagles to the state tournament and shot an 18-over there. Her best score of the year was a 78.

JD Berndt, Westbrook Christian

Why: Berdnt averages a 76 and is being looked at by colleges.

Jaycee Berrong, Geraldine

Why: Berrong won the sectional tournament last year and was a North-South All-Star. She holds a 4.6 handicap and is signed by Snead State.

Jaxon Bush, Etowah

Why: Bush was an all-area honorable mention honoree last year and is averaging an 81 going into the season.

Tyler Coley, Fort Payne

Why: Coley averages 76 for the Wildcats.

Daniel Edwards, Gadsden City

Why: Edwards led the Titans during a pre-season qualifying match, going 5-over through seven holes.

JP Groat, Fort Payne

Why: Groat has been averaging 73 for the Wildcats heading into the year.

Emma Jones, Boaz

Why: The 2024 Marshall County champion is back and averaging a 78 heading into the season.

Gracey Lankford, Gadsden City

Why: Lankford looks to be top Titans girl golfer this season.

Stokes Latham, Fort Payne

Why: Latham is averaging 81 going into the year.

Justin Lovoy, Southside

Why: Lovoy is averaging a 73 heading into the season.

Jaxon McCall, Etowah

Why: McCall is averaging an 86 on the year.

Owen McGee, Fort Payne

Why: McGee is coming into the year averaging a 79.

Cove McHugh, Westbrook Christian

Why: McHugh is committed to Snead State and averages 76 on the course.

Braden Phillips, Boaz

Why: Phillips is averaging an 80 so far.

Luke Roberts, Gadsden City

Why: Roberts looks to handle the Titans second role this season.

Velvie Smith, Boaz

Why: Smith is averaging a 85 right now and placed third in the county tournament last year.
