A POPULAR golf club in Colchester is now under new ownership in a major investment bid to put the golf course “back on the map”.

Lexden Wood Golf Club, in Bakers Lane, has now been acquired by Jonathan Greaves and the club has already started to implement big plans for its future.

The team has had 25,000 new Srixon golf balls delivered, a new ball picker added, enhanced their outside lighting for extended hours of golfing, and carried out exterior landscape and road repairs on its site.

A new greenkeeper has also been appointed to oversee the club’s 18-hole course.

Mr Greaves is also planning to revamp the golf course’s dinosaur-themed crazy golf course, Fossil Falls.

According to the Lexden Wood Golf Club website, it will receive a “makeover” and will reopen in time for the February school half-term holiday.

A new gym featuring “state-of-the-art- equipment” will also be coming to the club and it is expected to be installed by May.

Mr Greaves said: “We have hit the ground running and have already upgraded the range, bought a new ball picker, installed improved lighting, and taken delivery of new balls, mats, and targets.”

“If you haven’t visited for a while, please come and see us.

“The feedback from members and visitors has been really positive and we look forward to shaping a bright future for the club and the area.”
